Activists with the group Sea Shepherd set sail from France on Wednesday with an unlikely destination: the waters off war-torn Libya. Their mission: stop any fishing for endangered bluefin tuna since it's illegal in those waters.
"Any tuna fishing vessel we find off the Libyan coast will be operating illegally," Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson said in a statement. "We will cut their nets, free the fish, and document and report their operations" to international officials.
"We have no need to worry about Libyan planes or naval vessels," added Locky MacLean, captain of the flagship "Steve Irwin".
"We will keep NATO forces aware of our activities," he added. "We cant allow the poachers to profit from the war by taking these magnificent endangered fish."
Sea Shepherd, a group best known for taking on Japan's whaling fleet, said 46 crew are aboard the "Steve Irwin," named after the late Australian conservationist, and a faster "interceptor" vessel, which was recently renamed the "Brigitte Bardot" to honor the French actress known for her animal activism.

Please let me know if you want on or off the Whale Wars ping list.
They're so full of themselves that they should stay afloat for weeks...
I’d watch the show if someone tells me they get sunk and then machine-gunned in the water, otherwise I got a fork to stick in my eye first.
Hopefully the Japs will ram them this year and send that POS to the bottom.
People who attack others in international waters are Pirates.
It is worse than that...they are TERRORIST...I want to see whale hunting banded...BUT this people are criminals.
It is worse than that...they are TERRORISTS...I want to see whale hunting banded...BUT this people are criminals.
Then when I realized I was actively rooting for the whalers to torpedo the hippies (and gun down the survivors), I knew it was time to change the channel.
Lol!
GMTA!
Imagine the ratings bonanza if that actually happened ...
Why? I make time to watch this show for that very reason.
These smug clowns seem to be looking for a posthumous Darwin Award too.
Now that's what I call great TV...
That's why all the live threads are titled "Hippies Failing Badly" and most of them have gone over 100 posts.
Here's what it's predecessor looked like after a whaling ship went through it...
wonder what it’ll look like after an RPG or two go through it???
No sport. Set a MK 37 topedo to run about 1/2 knot faster
give it a sniff, and kick back with the beer and popcorn!
I would like to see one of these converted to a “whaling ship”

“And in breaking news, the Russian fishery ship Mitrofan Moskalenko responded to distress calls from both the Steve Irwin and the Brigette Bardot. Both vessels were operated by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Apparently by odd coincidence both vessels developed severe engine room fires at the same time. The calls were so urgent that the Mitrofan Moskalenko sent one of its high performance spotting helicopters to begin rescue operations. The helicopter arrive too late, since there were several explosions on the vessel at the time of the helicopter’s arrival.
Vladimir Putin expresses his deepest condolences.”

I don’t understand why they are allowed to interfere with anoher nations commercial ships in International Waters.
I don't think I'd like that. I do enjoy the smaller failures:
hippies falling in the water
hippies forgetting lubricating oil for the engine
hippies trying to set their own boat on fire with a welding torch
hippie trying to run boat's outboard motor at full speed when it is stuck on a sand bar and ruining the prop
hippies cramming the entire crew on the bridge instead of where they belong because that's where the cameras are
hippies placing a million dollar highly maneuverable boat in the path of a much less manueverable Japanese ship (wasn't that how Kennedy lost PT-109?)
hippies not able to read a radar and traveling right into a storm
hippies going into ice fields with ships that can't handle it
You forgot Captain Mouthbreather failing to make a decision time and time again when things are going badly.
