VANITY Sarah Palin's Strategy to Win Nomination
self | 6/2/2011 | self

Posted on 06/02/2011 8:09:42 PM PDT by Dr. Sivana

I believe that Palin's appearance in Boston and New Hampshire today, combined with what she said, has revealed her strategy to win the nomination.

I predict that Palin will pretty much leave Ron Raul, Tim Pawlenty, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich alone. Her attacks on other candidates' positions will be attacks on Romney 90+% of the time.

The reason is very simple. In a two man race, if one of the candidates is Romney, the other one wins. Oh, Romney will win the Boston bedroom communities in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and a couple of Mormon states out west.

The anti-Romney is going to win the South, the heartland and most of the west.

The anti-Palin people will have to gather around a candidate, and pick him early. It is in Palin's interest that a (to many people) new face like Pawlenty NOT get traction. By attacking Romney, she will actually gin up support for him among the anti-Palin people.

Meanwhile, people like Pawlenty, who want to split the difference, and those who are good conservatives who can only draw from Palin's total (e.g. Cain) will be struggling for oxygen.

Reagan did not bother attacking Phil Crane in 1980. Even when he was pushing for the whole crew (Bush, Dole, Baker, Anderson, Connolly and Crane) to be included in the debates, he knew after Iowa that it would be him against GHWB.

Whenever Palin attacks Romney, she energizes conservatives in general, and Palin supporters in particular. Whenever Romney attacks Palin through his surrogates, he does the same. That fact does no apply to any other opponent of Palin's at this time.

Some time ago, I predicted the possibility of a multi-ballot convention. I was mistaken. With no Thune, Daniels or Huckabee, and with Gingrich demonstrating an amazing lack of feel for the political climate, the race comes down to Palin and Romney. Paul has his supporters, but they are their own breed, kind of like what George Wallace was for the Democrats in 1976, a significant player who was going nowhere.

In a Palin/Romney matchup, Palin has to be considered the odds-on favorite.

I think her strategy will be to campaign in blue states. That will be unconventional. The conventional way is to campaign in battleground states

Absolutely. The moment Palin declares, it’s a two man race. And nutless Romney is the donkey.

I simply don’t believe the poll numbers on Romney....

It has nothing to do with him being a Mormon. It has everything with him being a “phoney” Blue Blood RINO to his very core. He is a Dem masquerading as a Pubbie.

There is NO WAY I will vote for NittWitt Mitt, EVER.....

NO WAY.

The Dems know there are a lot of others like me and drool over the prospect of a 3rd party to toss them the election if Mitt gets the nomination. This would be the death knell for the Republican Party.

Surely the National Republican officials understand this. If they don’t they are really stupid.

ONLY THE DEMS AND RINOS WANT ROMNEY TO GET THE NOMINATION.

I keep wondering if Glenn Beck will have anything to do with Palin’s run?

Interesting timing coming down the road after August...

Been doing battle at the end of the Rush thread who admires the courage and unafraid(ness) of a nut and a blow hard (Paul and Christie). We have our work cut out for us.

Employ the first dude heavily in campaigning. He’s the kind of guy regular Americans can really relate to and sappy swing-voter women voters could easily be swayed by him.

Exactly. The iron is hot due to the economic situation. Time to make steel.

A lot more is right. Palin is stepping into a mine field with all the confidence of a mine sniffing Rottweiler.
Her game plan is simplicity. She will enter the race to stand at the heart of the nation and declare that America must cleanse itself from the corruption choking us.
We have not seen her kind since Lincoln. He presided over a civil war. She will do no less.

Oh, you are so right. I remember my clueless days as a young mom watching Gore kiss Tipper and I was besotted. (Almost 11 years ago!) THEN, I listened to him talk and every word that came out of his mouth was WRONG.

Don’t flame me, we all had to make our political decisions somewhere. I can be proud it only took me about five minutes to figure out which side was right after starting to listen to the political world.

AND Todd is actually handsome. These clueless women won’t know what hit them. They won’t care how stupid Saturday Night Live says Sarah is. They will want to see more of his beautiful eyes.

I think you are right about her singling out the perceived front-runner. Why waste energy and resources alienating the others? I think Cain really likes her

I don’t think it is as much a ploy to win as it is that she truly wants what is best for our nation. She doesn’t have a problem with the other candidates that actually have a chance.

She is right. Bring it on, whatever it takes.

Naw.......what will really get them is when they see him interacting with children. That is the way to melt a women’s heart. Especially if it is her own children.

She isn’t running but wants attention anyway. She is this year’s Howard Dean as a small state Gov with a following of true believers who will be something in the party. She just doesn’t need to declare to get there though.
