What Sarah's Name Means

Here is the link to my original post, yes I think I was the 1st.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2106098/replies?c

I have a CPA friend that is a self taught biblical scholar.

He believes we grow into the meaning of our names, and always wants to know what you named the baby.

So one day (10/15/2008 ) I did what he does and research the meaning of "someones" name :-).

This is what I came up with....

Sarah : Princess (in Hebrew)...

Louise : Renowned Fighter....

Heath : From the Outer Lands...

Palin : Who will serve at the table…..

So...

She is: The Princess, who is a Renowned Fighter, from the Outer Lands, who will Serve at the Table...

If you haven’t yet done so, give the names in the Book of Ruth a go. Very interesting clues to the storyline!

Hmmm Our new secretary of state in Michigan is Ruth Johnson. Wonder how accurate that would be. She’s a real crusader against vote fraud.

Thanks for posting that. I think there is something to ‘growing’ into your name. My name is Karmann, which means song. I’m a singer and musician. I’m also a songwriter, but didn’t get serious about it until the past 5 or 6 years. I feel like I’m finally doing what I was supposed to do in life - and have grown into my name.

Here’s a song I composed, based on the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ in honor of Memorial Day.

My name is John and my great grandmother always called me St John the crusader because I have always fought for what I believed.

NOPE! Can't be done because humblegunner means 'I'm humble and will fetch it myself'. And mine means 'I know what all screen names mean'. ;)

LOL! That’s why the words are in the video - to distract people from looking at John’s belly. ;-)

What is the linguistic origin of Palin, or the one you have assumed? (Germanic, Greek, what?) I was thinking that a palindrome is a word or phrase spelled the same forwards as backwards.

What is the linguistic origin of Palin, or the one you have assumed? (Germanic, Greek, what?)

From Dictionary.com:

palingenesis \pal-in-JEN-uh-sis\ , noun;

1. Rebirth; regeneration.
2. In biology, embryonic development that reproduces the ancestral features of the species.
3. Baptism in the Christian faith.
4. The doctrine of transmigration of souls.

Origin:
Palingenesis is the combination of two Greek roots: palin, "again," and genesis, "source."

From the Concise English Dictionary:
Palingenesis: “a new birth; reincarnation, a second creation, regeneration, unmodified inheritance of ancestral character, the new formation of a rock by re-fusion.”

Is Sarah Palin of Greek extraction, then?

For years, I wrongly assumed that the Latin word pagus = “rural area; country” was related to the Greek word pagos = “rocky hill.”

Also there was a discussion on Free Republic some time ago about “gopher wood” in the Bible. It is unrelated to the gopher animal — that’s just how the Hebrew letters transliterate.
