This is really good. I think a lot of people have this perception that Bonds is a bad person, and it was largely created by the media.
He saw his father go through the ringer, so when he became a pro, he stayed distant. And if there is a group that circles the wagons well, it is the media. So the idea goes out that he is a jerk because he wont talk with the media. It gets pumped up and then bang, Bonds is “now” a bad person.
Then, the steroids saga comes along and the bad person is also a cheater, so there is a full onslaught. From the vitriol he gets, it would not surprise me if he voted Republican and the media held it against him. Im sure they used it against Clemens.
I just didn’t like the ‘roid era of baseball, and he really sealed the deal for me on watching the game period.
Other than that, I’ve heard he’s a financial master compared to other professional athletes.
