Insurance premiums have to be through the roof for pro-wrestlers.
Macho Man, Scary Sherry, and Miss Elizabeth who I watched growing up - all died young - along with a plethora of other big names.
also seems to be a whole load of medication addiction in pro wrestling also, they get used up and worn out by the companies and then tossed aside, its really quite sad.
The earliest memory of Randy Savage was his earliest Intercon Belt match with Ricky Steamboat. I didn’t even know what wrestling was because my Dad just turned on the TV and there it was.
I did not post the dupe thread.
That movie "The Wrestler" with Mickey Rourke was depressing but I think it was spot-on.
I used to run into Jerry Lawler quite a bit during the 90's. He seemed like a regular guy to me. A very nice man really.
The same health problems seem to plague the bulls of the NFL too. Steroids are definately a bad, bad scene.
>That movie “The Wrestler” with Mickey Rourke was depressing but I think it was spot-on.<
I’ve seen it, and Mickey Rourke was robbed of an Oscar over the Sean Penn who played a homo.
Mickey Rourke during his acceptance speech (a hilarious, non pc rant) at the Independent Spirit Awards thanked Vince McMahon and the WWE for the inside stuff of what went on, and Darren Aronofsky was never hindered on the truth as he was given special access to the WWE stable talents.
Dang, a car accident. Wonder if they had to use a “Slim Jim” to get him out....
