Beck Announces Major ‘Restoring Courage’ Rally in Israel This August

The motives behind Glenn Beck’s recent trip to Israel now make more sense with his announcement Monday morning that he will be holding a major rally in Israel this summer.

“I believe I’ve been asked to stand — in Jerusalem,” Beck told his audience recounting a list of times in history when people and nations failed to stand with the Jewish people. Beck explained, as he has often in the last year, how the life and thinking of the German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer has influenced him: “He asked people to stand for the Jewish people.” He told of Bonhoeffer’s call for pastors to stand with him. Only six did.

Beck detailed current challenges facing the nation — “Things in Israel are going to get bad…it’s only a matter of time.”

“They are going to attack the center of our faith, our common faith, and that is Jerusalem. And it won’t be with bullets or bombs. It will be with a two-state solution that cuts off Jerusalem, the old city, to the rest of the world.”

“It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths all around the world.”

The event will unfold under the designation “Restoring Courage,” with a clear intention that it serve as a step forward from last summer’s “Restoring Honor” rally held on 8/28 in Washington, D.C.

Beck explained that final dates and details are still coming together. He expects that there will be a full week of activities in Israel. There will also be ways for people to participate from here in the United States.

As full details become available they will be posted on Beck’s e-mail newsletter.

Beck explained that a trip like this will be “really expensive” for anyone wanting to participate. He said his team has been working on putting together packages that will make the trip as affordable as possible for as many as possible.

“I don’t know how many people will come,” he said, “But if we can gather seven then we’ll have one more than Dietrich Bonhoeffer did.”

‘But evil exists and it is human in nature, not supernatural. [MestaMachine, knowing better than Job, Zechariah, the author of Chronicles — not to mention God — combined!)”

No, MestaNachine who obviously knows better than YOU. Do the word “comprehend” ring a bell? It’s terribly strange to debate someone who disproves their own arguments. In fact, Job also said his desire was to reason with G-d. And guess what, G-d answered him. Because all of those who spoke did so in arrogance without KNOWING what they were talking about. Like you, for instance.

...evil exists and it is human in nature, not supernatural

ALL: Does this sound like an absolute or not? Evil can be...
...(a) natural
...(b) supernatural
...(c) both

ALL: MestaMachine chose (a)...and not only chose (a)...but stated it's distance from the supernatural that he absolutely -- as if he was omniscient -- ruled out either (b) or (c).

So...how many of you all have any trouble in understanding the simple phrase "evil...not supernatural"???

Do you all agree with this absolutely-framed phrase by MestaMachine? What do you think of this theological issue as framed by him?

It's the theological focus that I want to keep it...not MestaMachine. I merely point that the Old Testament passages disagree with his absolute. That even as evil is in the natural...it's not excluded from the supernatural...

His response?

He launches into ad hominens...calling me a "dimwit" & trying to make it personal is the best he can muster in post #77.

Then immediately after that cheapshot, he accuses me of taking a cheapshot. Then he goes on with the adhominen as if he knows my motivations ... "instant gratification" he claims is one of my motivators...[wonder if he USUALLY judges the motivations of complete strangers?]..."need for attention" [another judgment about my inner motivation]..."arrogance" -- because I dare question his absolute statements with Old Testament scriptures!

Over three posts as his response -- posts, 77, 79, 81...He posts 19 phrases. Of those 19 phrases, he talks about Job and G-d in 3 of them...otherwise, he spends a lot of the rest of his time in these posts with his ad hominens...his personal character attacks.

Get back to this issues: Prove why evil is "NOT supernatural." Who's your authority for that statement? Why is it deemed authoritative to begin with?

I wear no yoke...to Beck or anyone else, Godzilla. Because you are right. In the end, G-d chooses...which is why I end each and every prayer with, “As YOU will, Lord. Not as I will.”
You and I probably see things lot more alike than differently. As I said, many claims have been laid to Jerusalem. But Jerusalem is G-d’s own chosen city, and whatever happens will be of G-d’s choosing...not mine or anyone else’s. And we DON’T know what method or methods G-d will use, who could be the instrument of that choice, or how it will manifest.
You have probably read or heard the story about the stranger at the door. You just don’t know.

Well now, that is just cute. Are you saying that man has no choice in whether to BE or ACCEPT evil? Evil does not/cannot act on its own. It NEEDS willing participants. Man always has the choice. ALWAYS.
You can quote scripture from now until the end of time, but if you don’t understand it, what good does it do you? And if you don’t understand that JOB makes that point perfectly clear, then whatever else you say is meaningless on the subject.
Did the adversary make Jesus evil? Nope. But it was HIS choice. Same diff. Refute it if you can.
Oh heck. Never mind. You da man.

Wow...after reading this thread, it was like reading the back and forth banter of children.

Sad really. And, IMO, this is what EVIL wants us to do. Instead of focusing on the positive of what others (and ourselves) can do that is good in the world (for others)....he gets us bickering about the details, which make no difference, in the grand scheme of things.

Divide and Conquer? Shame....

Unite and Dilute?

Greater Shame!

Christians are called to EXPOSE false teachings; and the Devil gets REALLY pissed when we do!

Glad to hear the latter part. Yet you are willing to carry Beck's water without seriously investigating his motivations and religious foundations behind that motivation. Remarkably, to him you are a "gentile".

But Jerusalem is G-d’s own chosen city, and whatever happens will be of G-d’s choosing...not mine or anyone else’s.

So why build your support for Beck, since his 'god' is not the G-d you worship?

DON’T know what method or methods G-d will use, who could be the instrument of that choice, or how it will manifest.

Not aware of any historical Beck analogies from Jewish history mesta - where a pagan zealously wants to protect Jerusalem.

“Every Beck rally has his brand of
pseudo-religious populism instilled in it...”

Do you piss and whine about the nice little “Values” commercals, too?

Beck may be a cultist, but that doesn’t make YOU any less of a bigot.

“Those are just some things off the top of
my head on things that make him far less
credible than the rest of the people you
list.”

You need to look to the top of your head then. Generally speaking a list of subjective evaluations doesn’t enhance ones credibility.

Pray tell, what point of Mormon theology is Beck insinuating?

Nevertheless, Christ was extremely critical of those who won’t sing at weddings, nor weep at funerals.

Such will be judged by their “children.”
