Caught on camera, a mob of young people bombarded the City Stop convenience store on Sunset Road and Pecos Road and stole $600 in merchandise.
"It became a feeding frenzy," said City Stop owner Jon Athey. "They were in the store for three minutes and 30 seconds It's a pretty scary thing."
Athey says the crowd darted in and snatched numerous items from the store. "Beer to jerky to candy bars to soda, whatever hit their fancy potato chips," he said.
Athey says this tactic is known as a "swarm". After 42 years in the convenience store business, Athey says this crime stands out.
"This is the biggest one I've ever seen," he said.
If you walk into a convenience store, you expect every move to be recorded on camera. Surveillance cameras in every direction, however, didn't stop this crew.
"Now, you're seeing droves swarming in the front doors - right here - as fast as they can come in," Athey said as he watched the surveillance video. "You can see them milling around by the beer doors. Now, you're going to see them start selecting products they're putting in their coat pockets. They're putting it down their pants."

Comment from the page: “Yes, we can!”
The looters are now doing flash mob attacks.
Technically not in Las Vegas, but in the Metro area...I am not surprised. This area (Las Vegas Metro area) is just a moment away from anarchy at any given moment. I’d be absolutely shocked if there were even more “spontaneous” crime waves as it heats up. The Las Vegas area is virtualy unbearable without creature comforts in the summertime, and people are unemployed all over the place, whether the government hides the facts or not. Expect more of this type of behavior, and not just in Paradise, but all over the country.
An entitled, “I rule the world” mentaility?
“passed the point of no return”
Wow. All because of a few certain people.
I agree. It’ll only get worse as the year, and years, progress. It’s high time the (IMHO) most fundamental law of the universe “You reap what you sow” is learned. The problem is no one has had consequences to their actions for some time. The productive are pillaged, the unproductive bribed with the thefts from the productive. It can’t go on, and the goose that laid the golden egg has the noose around it’s neck already, it’s just still in it’s death throes.
Something like 17 - 20 of them????????????
I saw this here on a much smaller scale, ran in to get some ice cream on my way home and some criminals came in for their “beer run.”
I guess when the union cops became more interested in protecting the criminals (at least in our town), and the convenience stores rolled over, it’s a free-for-all for the looters.
Even though the ones I saw were polite, I was scared!

The “room broom”......excellent choice.
“Beer to jerky to candy bars to soda, whatever hit their fancy potato chips...”
So, as usual, we will pay their health care bills in the near future as well...
So, this is caused by heat and unemployment?
“Athey says this tactic is known as a “swarm”...”
No, it’s not. Seeing how the AG has already stated he won’t prosecute “his people”, let’s call this what it is:
ad hoc reparations
And expect even more as “his people” feel more and more “entitled”.
Just what the heck will we do with these damn Amish?
I’m pretty sure you’re right.
What I saw here over the last couple of weeks was enough to make me ill. The rioting illegal alien spawn chained themselves to the school board desks, pounding their fists and chanting like some sort of primitive types.
Needless to say, they don’t pay taxes, and more than likely their parents don’t either. The cops didn’t care and stayed outside (one of their “people” heads the police department), the parents were proud, some of the teachers and board members were even on board. Ward Churchill and some of the other Communist agitators even came down.
No consequences anymore, for anyone but the law-abiding.
Nope. A correlation in no way indicates a cause and effect relationship.
Unemployment doesn’t cause crime. It merely gives some people (including the criminally disposed) more time on their hands, and arguably less inhibition.
P.S. I don’t like it when someone tries to preposition an argument by jumping to a conclusion and then acting like it was my idea. No thanks.
Obviously. I feel sorry for the poor starving street waifs just searching for a morsel of food. Did you see how skinny most of them were!?
