I used a potato poultice once on a Brown Recluse bite. Used Saran Wrap to hold it tight against wound. Helped to draw out toxin. Next morning I removed it. Smelled like a rotten gunshot wound. Cleaned it-soap/water. Then peroxide./alcohol.

Missouri has more Brown Recluse than any other State. I avoid attics, crawl spaces in warm weather. These are nasty critters. Can leave baseball size holes in one's body...

I hear ya on the Missouri and those nasty spiders..... I travelled to MO several times for dog shows. In Oct of 06, when my son was 4 months old, a couple of friends and I were at a hotel. The two ladies < both live in MO > went across the street to get us some food. While they were gone, I had gotten in my son's diaper bag to get him out a bottle to fill up. And I'll be darned if there wasnt a spider in the bottom of his bag. So I set the bag outside the hotel's door , in the hall way when the ladies were coming back with the food. One asked WTH are you doing ? to which I replied that there was a spider in the diaper bag. She laughed because she knows how I detest spiders of any kind, color, size and shape. But she saw it and said " oh that's a badboy"... it was a Brown recluse. So she grabbed a huge wad of paper towels and squished it for me. She said she's used to killing them. Good Gawd, I'm still shuddering. EWWW

That is an interesting treatment. Did that take care of it? I have seen pics of the huge holes left after doctors excise large chunks of flesh trying stop the spread of it.
