Durham, N.C. — Family members of a man who was stabbed in his home April 3 say he died Wednesday evening. Crystal Mangum, the Durham woman who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006 has been charged with assaulting him.
Durham police could not be reached for comment on whether her charges would be upgraded.
Mangum, 32, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and was being held in the Durham County jail on a $300,000 bond.
Police said Mangum stabbed Reginald Daye, 46, in the torso with a kitchen knife during a dispute at 3507 Century Oaks Drive early on April 3.

Mangum had a lot of “enablers”.
She racked up over a dozen felony charges in her life, made two false claims of gang rape, tried to run over a police officer with a stolen taxi, was involved with drugs, and somehow never seemed to be prosecuted.
The media loved her when she falsely accused the un-PC
Duke team.
Is Nifong still disbarred? Maybe he could be her defense attorney.

The charges will be updated to murder tomorrow morning;
but given Mangum’s history, it is more than likely she will get off with manslaughter, psychiatric tests, and then time served (in jail) plus supervised probation.
She has “protection”, IMHO.
Got it. Y'see, poor Crystal was still so distraught by her victimization at the hands of the patriarchial white male lacrosse majority that she blindly lashed out in righteous anger - sadly, at the wrong target. Crystal didn't kill her boyfriend. We did. We all did.
Will the libs from the Duke faculty run another ad, proclaiming her innocence?
She can’t be charged with anything. That would obviously be racist.
The 88 (87 actually, one, count them, withdrew) of her faculty friends at Duke are signing a petition and a character reference letter.
Cue in the crickets.
She’s trash and she hangs around trash. This isn’t surprising.

Mangum tried to kill her former husband, was attacking her earlier boyfriend when she got arrested the time before this, tried to run over a cop with a stolen taxi,
got into fights at the club where she worked (including pulling the hair of a woman customer) etc.
But nobody in the Durham justice system ever tried to stop her.
It wasn’t hard to see that eventually she would kill someone (several people predicted it).
Everyone who enabled her through the years, helping her escape prosecution, shares in the result.
Waiting on the “Open Letter” from the Duke faculty enablers.
Can they please send her to prison for a long time, preferably life. She’s a menace to society.

and men still went to bed with her. She’s crazy but I think they are crazier.
Somehow, none of them strike me as the informed sort who read the paper and watch the news. Furthermore, she sure was a lot better looking than their cellmate back in the joint.
