Well, at long last, GingisK and Lazamataz hit it!
Um, at the gun range.
Weather was clear and windless, the variety of firearms was truly something to behold, and the company was wonderful.
GingisK picked me up, and after picking up his illustrious and charming boys, and meeting his lovely and gracious wife (where we all supped on Pizza, one of them affectionally named 'Sam'), we then proceeded to a delightful range slightly east of Lanier Lake in Georgia.
I finally got a chance to break in my Glock 22, and discovered that after an initial period of reacquaintence with shooting (in other words, I was all over the paper), I finally started shooting more consistently with the Glock. I also showed Gingis and his sons the Ball and Dummy drill, in which you -- unbeknownst to the shooter -- either give them a pistol with a round chambered, or no round chambered. On the times when you attempt to fire on an empty battery, you end up seeing what sort of flinch or motion you would have done if there was a live round. For most people, they see they would have shot low. People tend to anticipate recoil by pushing down.
We also had a chance to fire a very poorly-sighted-in 9mm (make unknown, looked wonderful but shot like crap), an extremely easy to use .22 pistol with almost know felt recoild, a very nice 8mm Mauser rifle (boy did that shoot true), a Springfield 03 rifle, a Ruger Ranch rifle that seemed to be sighted extremely high, a M1A (what a dream machine that was), and one I felt an immediate connection to - an L1A1 that I seemed to fire so well that Gingis started remarking, "Looks like Laz is hittin' it.". LOL
GingisK brought his boys, who shot very expertly. Safety was maintained, much lead was cast downrange, political opinions were traded (and in most cases merely reinforced), and all-in-all, truly a wonderful day. It is something I would like to repeat. :)
After Action Report. Had a lot of fun and thank you for inviting me!
Gotta love an FAL.
And yes, I would hit it!
Laz~! Hittin’ it with lead!
So, you hit a target. Is that something new?
been looking at those myself...also have no experience whatsoever with them.
Self promotion is so great. I have often spoken of myself in the third person.
Laz... there was a thread about somebody who shot his thumb off... was that you???
;-)
Lemme see if I understand...
You poked a target with your gun. Over and over. At first you had trouble finding the target and couldn’t remember how to do it, but then it came back to you.
One of my favorite weekend pass times. I love to put on my tactical belt with a Blade-Tec dropped off-set holster and walk around with Herr Glock by my side. Or Herr Sig.
We’re teaching a shooting class for the women of our church next weekend. The men had a shooting outing a couple of months ago. That’s one thing we really like about our cowboy church. Ain’t no political correctness ‘round here!

Hopefully, neither of you went off half cocked.
Close.
I found an inviting, you might even say SEXY, target. Then I whipped out my gun. I tore holes in that target, but I noticed I wasn't quite centered, so I banged away, again and again, until the target had a few new holes in the center and everyone walked away smiling.
I’ve had three of them on order since November, for me and two buddies. If they ever show up, I’ll let you know. I would love to let you know. Please show up. Soon.
Sawdring agrees.
TTIWWOP of the gun or the target, even the poor shots/
I've always loved the Garand and the FAL.
The only thing we forgot to shoot is pictures! LOL
