Unable to decide how to divvy up $9 billion a year, NFL owners and players put the country's most popular sport in limbo by breaking off labor negotiations hours before their contract expired. At midnight, as Friday became Saturday, the owners locked out the players -- creating the NFL's first work stoppage since 1987 and putting the 2011 season in jeopardy.

My guess is the lawyers will be dividing up the 9 billion.

I just don’t care what millionaire crybabies on both sides of the fence are doing. (Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about what was posted.)

When my dad was alive, I loved rooting for the opposite team from him (except we both rooted for the Raiders) I couldn’t match up the few names I know with their teams anymore.

They are off my radar and won’t be back.

Same here. There's far and away too much relevant stuff to worry about. Overpaid car wash jockeys need to STFU and be grateful for making what they do.

If professional sports completely disappeared overnight, the world would be a better place.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

I told my boss “I want to see the books to find out if I am getting my fair share” He told me to look for another job.

NFL games are not watchable anymore, IMO. I’ve quit.

Primarily because the TV screen is so full of distractions, and visual garbage. Stuff scrolling all the time, pop ups, etc.

It’s just plain irritating to watch. Why bother?

Pro sports were invented and promoted to give urbania something to do. Keep them focused on something. What the heck are all those sports fans gonna do without sports?

Open message to the NFL, it’s owners, players, and fans:

It’s a GAME. If you don’t like what you are being paid... then quit...

I have a hard time watching the NFL anymore. A league that blackballs Rush as "too racist" to own a team and then almost makes Dog-killer Vick the MVP turns my stomach.

Should I be upset? Didn't think so.

NFL players aren't replaceable so that comparison doesn't really hold.

Vick wasn’t named MVP. Besides that’s voted on sportswriters not the NFL.

Most NFL players make under 500,000 a year and most NFL careers don’t go longer than a few years.

The owners of NFL franchises have a de facto union amongst themselves so in this case a ‘labor’ union is understandable.

The Average NFL Player
January 31, 2011

• Average NFL player salary: $1.9 million

• Median NFL player salary: $770,000

• Average NFL career length: 3.5 years

• Number of players on injured reserve in 2010: 352

• Average NFL player age: 27

Data: National Football League; National Football League Players Assn.

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/11_06/b4214058615722.htm

The lowest make $1.9 million in just 3.5 years.

If they can’t figure out how to make $1.9 work for them, they are socialists and deserve nothing.

Well if the NFL isn’t going to happen this year, at least we can fall back on women’s volleyball.
