Ever since Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad 2, people have busy trying to compare his statements to the truth, especially this one:
“Many have said (iPad) is the most successful consumer product ever launched. Over 90% market share and our competitors were flummoxed.”
Where was Steve getting this 90% market share data point? Strategy Analytics showed iPad’s market share at 75% in 4Q10 and falling fast.
The thing about Steve Jobs is that he rarely outright lies, instead opting to look at data in a way that he thinks makes most sense and which contains some shred of validity. I don’t think Steve was far off from the truth saying iPad had 90% market share. Using conservative figures and assumptions, I calculate iPad’s tablet market share at 90% in 4Q10, and nearly 95% for 2010.

It doesn’t matter. It’s apple. It’s edgy, hip and cool.
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
And it just works... ;^)>

I Know people who have it but dont know why or what to do with it hehe. I do like the i phone though
Right now, it might be 95 percent of the tablet market.
But it won’t be in a couple of years, once the Android market ramps up.
>It doesnt matter. Its apple. Its edgy, hip and cool.<
the Ipod Nano sucks.
I have an Android phone and I’m reading FR on my iPad. How’s that for versatility?! :)
Probably not. But they kept saying that about the iPods... and how the next MP3 player from XYZ company was the next iPod killer... never happened. Even Microsoft's Zune couldn't unseat it. Finally what brought down the sales of the iPod was the iPhone and other smartphones unifying cell phones and music players in one device.
The thing is that it's not just a DEVICE that has to compete, it's a device plus the ecoSYSTEM that goes with it... the stuff that ties in with it. Apps, accessories, devices that transparently work with the tablet without jumping through hoops to get them to work. That is what make the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad ecoSYSTEM harder to compete with another phone/player/tablet. So many things are already iOS compatible and not compatible with the competition.
Multi-talented. :)
I want an Android tablet because Sony is releasing its entire Playstation library.
However, if, as rumour has it, that Apple convinces Nintendo to release its library unto the Ipad, I’d be so hopelessly indecisive.
That is where Android is going as well.
I would love it if the tablets could eventually replace textbooks and paper.
Isn’t this about the time you show up and make some dumb ass comment?
Did you double post from your iPad?
Or did you use your MacBook?
Just curious which tool you screwed up with.
But this year will be different. The Motorola Xoom is only the very first among many tablet computers running Google Android 3.0 ("Honeycomb"), and within the next few months we'll see the Blackberry Playbook running a QNX variant and HP TouchPad running WebOS. As such, I felt that the incremental improvements on the iPad 2 may not be enough to keep these new tablets at bay.
So you agree that the VP of Samsung really did say that the "The sell in of the Galaxy Tab was quite large, but the sell through was smooth. . .", as the spin was added after the Samsung marketing flacks had a panic attack and told her to fix it a week after the fact, and not what was originally heard, and quoted, by everyone at the press conference "sell through of the Galaxy Tab saw small..."?
Hmmmm... "sell through was smooth..." What a strange turn of phrase... especially with that "but" in there... To me, and a lot of others, "smooth" just doesn't seem to follow "large" no does it? Especially when independent reports show that "small" is a much more accurate word to use for the retail sales of the Galaxy Tab...
“I have an Android phone and Im reading FR on my iPad. Hows that for versatility?! :)”
The tech version of reaching across the aisle!
He hasn't got his orders from his handlers yet. Give it time.
Nope, came from an iMac. But earlier today I got a double post from a Dell at a client's office. Something is going on at FR. Seen a lot of double posts. I think there's a Proxy Server sitting between us and FR doing something. I've seen double posts with zero seconds between them.
That being said, I've had double posts occur several hours apart from my iPhone and iPad when I've gone through cell tower breaks a couple times... Lost the signal as I was uploading the post while I was riding in a car before I received the acknowledgement from FR... then gained the signal back several hours later and the browser resends the same reply. ;^)>
