Did you catch ABC's recent special on an incubator to boost preemie survival in Africa and a new machine to diagnose tuberculosis in the developing world?

Perhaps you saw Ray Suarez's three-part series on poverty and AIDS in Mozambique on the PBS NewsHour. Or listened to Public Radio International's piece on the rationing of kidney dialysis in South Africa.

Beyond their subject matter, these reports have something else in common: They were all bankrolled by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

TOPICS: Business/Economy
KEYWORDS: taint
The story of the widow's mite always comes to mind when billionaires

hire publicists and marshal media to report how wonderful billionaires are, who sacrifice millions to no good purpose whatsoever, but for their own exhaltation.

When someone does something to be "seen of men (Matthew 6:5, 23:5), they have their reward, as the rich who made an ostentatious show of their generosity. They certainly impressed each other and those watching. It was the humble, quiet gift of the poor widow that impressed the Son of God.

Gates feel sorry for his sleazy business practices and also for fosting upon us the world’s worst operating system. He has cost business far, far more than any benefits gained by “windows”.

May he rest in the same place Obama’s gonna be going.
