Interesting. I may have to try it.
I’ve got the onset of something that I’m pretty sure is arthritis going on in my ankles and heels. When it’s hurting (which is nearly every morning), I can hardly walk.
Like you, I heard some hubbub about this stuff back in the 80s, but being in my young adulthood, paid it little heed. May be time to give it a try.

AFAIK, it’s good stuff.
Of course, for the Hysteria Industry, the fact that it has been used by athletes is enough to prove that it’s deadly, and “cheating.” You know, like perfectly safe, effective steroids that are now classed with cocaine and heroin.

Yes around 1980. It worked for some sprains that just would not go away. Rub in on and taste it in seconds? The penetrating power of the stuff made me wonder how fast I would croak if I had some kind of toxic substance contaminated it. There is a chance the Governments restriction of its use was with good cause. Nah , what was I thinking?
Good luck please post your results.

yup...it’s as much of an astringent as anything.
I thought I had a sprained wrist and used it for about a month. No relief.
Turns out I had a broken bone in my hand.

In the race-horses we use it for extreme inflammation, extreme bone or soft tissue injury. You can always tell a horse on DMSO by the garlic stench permeating from their stall. It's tolerated well and certainly does the trick. In humans, no idea. I'm obviously no help. Unless of course you have a tail and four hooves.

This probably won't help you much, but back in the 80's I had the farm and raised goats...One old goat would get crippled up and I would find her walking on her front (what would be an elbow to humans) legs. I would use DMSO on her front leg joints and loosely wrap them, within a couple of hours she would be walking normally...The warning was to just apply it to the joint, do not rub it in..I would dab it on the joint with a piece of cloth.
But if you have arthritis kicking up I would suggest Glucosamine, 1000 mg a day. I have been taking it for over 10 years and it works wonders for me.. In the beginning it takes about 2 weeks before you notice the difference...I get the cheapest kind WalMart sells. Its brand name is Schiff. The pills are 1000mg per pill and I take 1 a day. My dog also has arthritis and the vet said she could take the same pill I do. Its cheaper than getting it from the vet. Makes a difference it her also..
To: Arthur McGowan
Well, I guess it is used fairly regularly on champion racehorses who are worth a whole heck of a lot more than I am!
Just like people who use veterinary antibiotics, I asked a vet once about purity of pet meds.
He basically told me it was as good as if not better than human meds.
Think about it. Some farmer who lost 1000 head of prime cattle WOULD NOT BE AMUSED if it could be traced to bad meds...

DMSO is an extremely permeable solvent that increases the transport of almost every substance through body tissue. That is probably the reason for it’s effects.
Be careful about cleanliness when handling DMSO. Whatever is on your skin at the time will soon be inside your skin...
