Sorry for the vanity. I hold back as much as possible until something is driving me nuts.
We hear talk of Sarah Palin and others being "too polarizing". But here is a question I ask. Would you want to vote for a candidate that wasn't called polarizing by the media ? Would you want to vote for a candidate that Jon Stewart and Saturday Night Live would not make fun of.
I remember when Mike Huckabee was interviewing Oliver Stone. How in the hell does a conservative get an interview with Oliver Stone ? Since then I have been thinking there must be something wrong with Mike Huckabee. He creeps me out. If he really was who he says he is, he would being treated much differently. Simply put, he is not hated enough by the haters.
If a GOP conservative is not attacked and ridiculed, isnt something seriously wrong with that person ?
If my hate meter is any indictation, Sarah Palin is the biggest threat. She should wear it as a badge of honor.
Why are so many Republicans delusional about the MSM ? To the point they want the MSM to approve of our candidate. I got news for you, its not happening. The vast people you hear trashing Sarah in public would never vote for a conservative Republican. So WHY give their comments any consideration ?
The problem with Sarah Palin is not Sarah Palin the person or the way she talks. It is about her christianity, conservatism and patriotism.
If she can't get elected, no conservative Republican can.
Where am I going wrong here ?
As I have said before. I have lost friendships over supporting Palin. It was upsetting. But in the end I figured out that they were not worth being friends with in the first place.
How someome talks about Sarah Palin gives you a pretty good idea where their heart is and if they are trustworthy.
Nowhere! You are right on the money.
you could be a whole heck of a lot nicer. you know that ?
Call me whatever you want to call me. You treat me like a stupid kind. But you should be thankfull that there are some passionate Republicans in my generation. Without conservative men and women in their 20s, the Republican party would go the way of the Whigs.
It’s funny how ony conservatives are polarizing. Obama, despite tanking approval, isn’t.
They approved of McCain (right up to the point where he won the primaries).
You are 100% right......
The MSM, and the hard left hates conservatism but don’t hate Republicanism.....you know a person by their enemies and Sarah proves that she is over the target by the vitrol she gets....you are right when say Mitt Romney gets praised on an piece on the Huffington Post or that the vile Joy Behar says Huckabee is her favorite Republican!!! That tells me more about those two than a MSM article being snarky against Sarah
I’ve seen it said before that Palin is a political/moral Rorschach test.
Exactly.
Most Republicans don’t put her in the top 5 for ‘12. I like her but let’s not get delusional. She may not even run. If she doesn’t think she can win, she won’t run. She’s a realist.
Use your head next year. If it looks like she's ready and will make a good president, fine. If it looks like she's not serious and doesn't have what it takes, you've got to deal with that.
The idea of electing somebody just because all the people you don't like hate him or her, doesn't have that much appeal anymore, not after Bush, anyway.
Since Ted Nugent said she’s not ready for prime-time, I’m surprised you’re not over on that thread.
I’m afraid you’re just going to have to get used to the idea that her popularity with the general public isn’t nearly as strong as you seem to believe. FR has the largest percentage of supporters of any place you’ll ever find, and even here you see that she’s not only divisive, but her support is far from universal. Now, you have enough sense to realize that the further away from Free Republic you get, that the more people have negative views of her than not.
Who are you, and what have you done with se_ohio_young_conservative. He never holds anything back.
She’s perfectly ready for prime-time, and that’d be the best place for her. Give her her own Oprah-type show, and she’d be great. Like Levin or Rush, but on TV :)
As to President, no, she’s more experienced than Obama, but still very limited. She might be great at first, but I can easily see her being very similar to what happened with Obama and his lack of experience.
but WHY do they have negative views of her ? nobody can explain why. I ask. I try to guess. I look and re look through her record and her history.
I don’t see anything all that negative about. so dammit. someone connect the puzzle for me.
my best guess is it is because shes Christian.
SOYC - I think your assessment is accurate. And, I’m glad that there are young conservatives coming up in ranks. Our daughter was the youngest precinct committee person for the Republican party in her district for a while. They’d send her out to do voter registration because she would talk to people her age and they would end up registering as a Republican.
She got very disillusioned by the political process. The local Republican party wasn’t in the least bit interested in drawing in the young folks. They wanted to do cocktail parties and such.
She now understands that what she wanted was a conservative party, not necessarily the Republicans. I think the Tea Party is offering young folks a place to stretch their conservative wings.
So, SEYC, I appreciate your post on many different levels. We need to encourage young folks to take a serious look at conservatism. Many do not have a clue what it is, but recognize the truth when they see it.
You got it right. Too many Republicans, including a large contingent on FR, are more interested in getting love from the media and the Ruling Class than they are in putting someone with demonstrated principles in the White House. WE DON’T NEED Democrap votes. We don’t really even need all the Independents. If Conservatives have someone they can really get behind that believes in the Founding (like Palin), they will win. It’s truer now than when Reagan had his 49-state landslide.
What in the sam hill are you talking about? "Limited?" Is that some dig at her education? She knows and BELIEVES IN the Constitution and our Founding principles. I'll take that over any candidate who attended a hundred Lefty New World Order groupthink seminars at the Ivy-League infestations. Like Obama.
Indeed, this is the case. Back when I was involved with Reagan's presidential campaigns, I met many "conservative Republicans" who opposed Reagan and supported Ford, Bush, Dole, etc. And just eight years ago, many--perhaps a majority--on FR backed Arnold Schwarzenegger over Tom McClintock, a true conservative--and I sure hope the Schwarzenegger supporters are happy with their hero's performance.
