The deep fried frog skins are the one I can’t develop a taste for. The bamboo grubs are the best of what is shown in the street market photo. Dip any of it in chili and vinegar mix and you never actually taste the bug!!

Only place I’ve ever had chicken feet was in Hong Kong. I’m sure I’ve eaten a lot of weird stuff traveling overseas, especially in Asia. If I don’t recognize what I’m eating, I don’t ask what it is. Just dig in.

At least you know it is fresh when it is still crawling on the plate. I’m a little suspicious when something is served that seems overly seasoned for that part of the country. It is often a way the cook covers up food that is going bad.

Yeah, if it does not kill the locals, how bad can it be?

The market I shop at has duck and chicken balut. Used to see it eaten all over asia. Not for me.

What about "head cheese"?

You see this stuff in every deli in America.

Does anybody actually eat the stuff?

McD’s and KFC are date destinations there with waiting lines and some require reservations.

:-) SEE! Proof that we're right, and they're wrong! :-D

I’ve eaten plenty of bugs in Thailand and Vietnam. They are quite tasty once you get the hang of it.

My favorite weird Japanese foods: Mozuku - seaweed

Uni - sea urchin

Basashi - raw horse

Natto is pretty disgusting too.

I buy frozen durian all the time, its like vanilla custard creme with almond and over ripe green onions. Weird, but nice.

lol Yes they are “exotic” locations there. Very strange to wait 45 minutes to get a burger.

I usually risk street food or little restaurants where nobody speaks English- when the food comes, what the heck is it?

The big cities there are now so Western, if it weren’t for all the Han everywhere, you could be in New York. They hire German and American architects to design and build the cities. It’s actually sad to see a waiting line at KFC- it’s like the kids are forgetting their history.

'You see this stuff in every deli in America.

only when it's properly aged.
