Logansport - While the auto industry gradually gets back on its feet, there's one Indiana car maker that hasn't suffered during the recession. In fact, business is booming in a Logansport workshop.

-SNIP-

"It's really, really cool. I pinch myself daily to remind myself that this is not a dream," said Racop.

It continues with passionate craftsmen who help reincarnate a relic from the past. Racop and Sanberg reproduce exact replicas of the 1966 Batmobile at their small workshop in Logansport, Indiana.

Sweet! I remember when Batman was my favorite show. When my father was on his way home from Vietnam I couldn’t wait for him to get there so he could watch Batman with me.

$150K is a lot but not THAT much. People who can afford Porches and Mercedes SLs can afford that...

I believe the original was based upon a '56 Lincoln Premiere convertible. You can still see hints of it in the headlight area, not much else.

Why not? They’ve sold 14 at $150k each. Better than my local Dodge dealer’s sales.

I read the basis was a 1956 Lincoln Futura concept car.

Well, 56 and Lincoln. Could be that the starting point for both the concept car and the Batmobile was the Premier convertible of the same year. I sort of doubt they butchered a concept car for it.

No, I’m sure they simply copied it. Butchering that Futura would have been a crime, it’s pretty cool.

I would give up a testicle for one of those. Really. Maybe two. I don’t plan on having any more kids anyway...
