Thanks for the review, sounds great, I'm a big western fan, Eastwood was my guy though, Bridges was great in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (though this wasn't a western).

Thank you for your service to our country! I know you probably didn’t hear it then.

Now you and I are almost the same age as Wayne was when he played Rooster Cogburn.

Nobody will call you Marneener to your face. There will be whispers hehind your back though.

Question is: are they talking about your Marneener-ness, or are you just sensitive to the fact you may actually be a 'marneener'

LOL.

Neener. Neener. Neener! How do we know?

I believe you're in the closet 'bout being a 'Neener.

LOOK: I'm just trying to help.

Just so I'm clear on the issue, just what are 'Neeners?

My kids hate watching that movie with me, since I quote all the dialog along with the characters. Drives ‘em nuts.

That scene (shootout at the dugout) was filmed about 20 miles from my house at Hot Creek, near Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra of California

How bad was Glen Campbell's performance in the original film version of True Grit?

Well, my brothers and I saw True Grit in a theatre when it was released in 1969.

Earlier this year, we were together in the home of a relative after a funeral. In the shallow post-funeral conversation, a few of the women were discussing a movie they had recently seen. As the conversation drifted, the words "bad actor" were uttered.

Spontaneously, 41 years after the fact, my two brothers and I simultaneously said "I ain't dead yet, you bushwhacker" in our best/worst Glen Campbell impersonation.

Glen Campbell. True Grit. Acting so bad it stayed with the three of us that long.

*shiver*

You’ll love this, it’s True Grit scenery and places, then and now. It’s absolutely fabulous video.

Just got back from watching it... it's very good... but...

I wasn't all THAT impressed with Jeff Bridges' performance, mainly because he sounds just like Karl from Slingblade. That just put me off from the beginning. I also saw a couple of sloppy edits, one in the back of Chen Lees' store early where Rooster is wandering around looking for a match (you hear him talking but his lips are not moving at all) and then at a campfire you can see Mattie talking but nothing's being said.

Also did not like Bridges' delivery of the "fill your hand" line, it just lacked something.

I'm nitpicking though, as I said, it's very good.
