Video doesn't show the shooting but the audio is there.
Unbelievable.
Police are becoming worse and worse. I don’t know if the standards are lower or what but this sounds like a horrible crime perpetrated by a police officer.
Is it against the law to have a knife? I know it’s not where I live. Since when is turning to face a cop a killing offense?
One of the witnesses said “He didn’t do anything”
The mere possession of a knife by an old man resulted in a death sentence.
Dear God.
Obviously a case of felony whittling.

Sorry to see someone get killed by a cop over-reacting, but I think the officer needs to go to jail at the very least.
Seattle: a big, blue area with happy liberal Democrats walk around insulated from the filthy, ignorant peasants around them.
But this will somehow be the fault of people in fly over country, Tea Partiers and George Bush....
Something very wrong here and I have no doubt. If this is all there is to it.
People that say we don’t live in a police state are willfully blind. My prediction is that the cop will get off scott-free, the city will pay a few $100,000 to the family and the usual boot lickers will soon show up on this thread to try and justify the murder of this guy by the Seattle PD.
One report the other day said he was shot in the back.
You can spin that all day long. That was murder. “Put the knife down?” Are you sh*tting me? I thought Seattle was the new west coast home of tolerance and love. You can bet you sweet @$$ I won’t pull my nail clippers out in public if I ever go to Seattle.
Five shots. Count ‘em. Five.
Video of fatal Seattle police shooting of woodcarver released
From what I can tell from the story:
Was the guy advancing on the officer? No, the guy turned towards the officer because of the shouts. The guy was originally walking away from the officer. Walking down the street whittling not paying attention.
Was he a whacked out drunk or druggie? Some reference to the guy might have been drunk.
How close to do let a guy get to you before you act? Generally 21 feet, depends on whats happening. If the guys whittling I might walk up to him and see what he’s making.
If you watch the video it shows the guy calmly walking down the street. Not acting crazy.
“Was the guy advancing on the officer?
Was he a whacked out drunk or druggie?
How close to do let a guy get to you before you act?
Questions that need answering.”
Read the article before asking dumb questions, he had his back to the cop and was carving some wood with a knife, he was also partially deaf. The guy was NOT approaching the cop, the cop was approaching the guy who naturally turned around when some crazy guy (the cop) started yelling for him to drop the knife. Autopsy showed that all bullets entered the victims side so he evidently didn’t even get a chance to completely turn around before being murdered by the cop. Any other questions boot licker?
The standards have always been low. The cop people don’t want smart cops because they will soon leave for a better job. IQ’s around 90 or so is my bet. There was an article about this from Boston. They didn’t want smart high IQ cops. And it shows.
There are some knife laws that limit the length of the knife blade, but everything I’ve read on this case indicates that the knife was within the legal limits.
Before the “good job” there was a “you killed him only because he had a knife?”
I think it was a “good job” you just murdered this guy and I dont want you to off yourself here and now.
