Britains beaches could soon be inundated with records numbers of jellyfish, marine experts warned today.
Scientists say the number of jellyfish are on the rise thanks to the increasing acidity of the worlds oceans.
The warning comes in a new report into ocean acidification an often overlooked side effect of burning fossil fuel.
Studies have shown that higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere doesnt just trigger climate change but can make the oceans more acid.
Since the start of the industrial revolution, acidity levels of the oceans have gone up 30 per cent, marine biologists say.
The new report, published by the UN Environment Programme during the Climate Change talks in Cancun, Mexico, warns that the acidification of oceans makes it harder for coral reefs and shellfish to form skeletons threatening larger creatures that depend on them for food.

Researchers admit inconvenient finding: CO2 is helping giant redwoods grow
Is this because we’re onto the scam with global warming? I live at the beach in Florida. I haven’t noticed an increase in jelly fish and I care because they sting.

Somebody’s on acid, but I don’t think it’s the jellyfish.
Underwater volcanoes are ignored. Two thirds of the world’s volcanoes are undersea. There are 3 million of them estimated, and about 30,000 are active. There is essentially NO monitoring or measurement of their acid output, understandably. Assumptions of causes of ocean acidity without consideration of undersea volcanic data is obviously problematic.
All we need is a good recipe....

Aye yigh yigh, these Climate Change Nazi’s are relentless aren’t they? Now driving my car and using incessant bulbs is causing a jelly fish explosion.. Oh no, better run out and get an ZerO/UAW Motors Volt!!! LOL...

Expect many more scary scenario stories like this. The ocean is full of calcium, It won't go acid. The same CO2 never did this to the ocean before, even when there was 20 times as much of it in the atmosphere. How can it be doing it now?

Here is the money quote, and where they are going with this. And as one poster pointed out, the underwater volcanoes are being ignored. Add that even assumes that anything else they are saying is correct.
It is like saying that, during a hard rainstorm, the lawn is wet because somebody accidentally tripped and spilled their glass of water.

YUM! Another favorite of mine. I have half a dozen bags of spicy jellyfish snacks in the fridge. Think I’ll pop one open!

Avoid jellyfish sushi.... They may still have stingers in them....
Jellyfish Chowder though, yum yum yum.....

I wonder what the yearly output of the “black smokers” is...
What we really need is a species of fish that thrives on eating jellyfish and for that species of fish to be tasty.
A shame that jellyfish don’t taste like lobster.
Stocking the oceans with the peanut butter fish would provide the perfect combo to feed the third world countries and those concerned about global warming.
