Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau says President Barack Obama is difficult to satirize. In an interview marking Doonesbury's 40th anniversary, Slate.com's David Plotz asked Trudeau: Who's the hardest politician to satirize, and why? Trudeau answered:

He has a point: obama is a cartoon character to begin with and much of what he does IS INDEED COMEDIC (in a very dark way), so I guess it really would make it hard to satirize him....

Ford-don’t recall he did anything
Carter-a talking peanut (IIRC)
Reagan- a take-off of ‘Max Headroom’ named ‘Max Headspace’
Bush 1-an asterisk
Clinton- a waffle
Bush 2- a floating Roman war helmet
I’m thinking the REAL reason GT hasn’t done anything about Obama is that if he DOES, he’ll be labeled a racist! No matter what he might come up with, he’s screwed, and he kows it. So...just say “I can’t come up with anything”. Easy out.
