Venice Beach is famous for many things, among them glistening meatheads pumping iron at Muscle Beach, hippies parked on grassy dunes exhaling plumes of herbal smoke, and throngs of European tourists snapping photos of both. Now we can add news of an FDA raid of Venice-based Rawsome Foods, a raw-food co-op -- run by local hippies, no less -- that was selling raw goat's, sheep's, cow's and even camel's milk. Eater and Stephen Colbert covered the original story quoting Rawsome employees who said, "The [FDA agents] drew their guns, acting as if it was a serious activity that was going on here. They asked everyone to line up against the back wall and frisked each of us." Why the raid? The FDA claims that raw milk has led to serious illness and even death, hence the SWAT-team style invasion. Rawsome's security cameras caught footage of the raid, which we've posted above. Check it out for yourself.

If I didn’t know this was an actual raid/arrest, I’d swear that video was a hoax.
FReepers with an actual law enforcement background would know better than I, but those FDA officers looked about as professional and well-trained as a hall monitor. Wander aimlessly for a couple moments, then point your gun at someone. After that you lower your weapon and walk around some more, let the gung-ho guy go all SWAT a minute later, keeping the perps at bay until officer McTubby strolls up shifting his firearm from hand to hand and half-heartedly points it at someone off camera.

Yep, sell the Raw Milk only to adults over 21.
Presumably the donor (cow/goat/camel) being sexually mature enough to give milk would be considered “adult”.
Consenting adults, right? They make everything else legal as long as it’s between “consenting adults”.
[It may be difficult getting the cow to sign the consent form...]

Wake up folks! If they keep this up we will all be glad to get our handful of rice and a boiled fish head.
This is all about power & control.
These twinky FDA rent-a-cops making a bust with drawn guns. Any professional knows that you never pull a weapon unless the situation has placed your life or an innocent person’s life in danger. Having it out and waving it around makes you look like an idiot. Either that or you think you are in a war zone.
Put the same rules of engagement on bureaucratic thugs as you stick on our troops in a real war zone.
