End "Section 8" housing and a lot of people who sit around smoking weed are going to have to go get jobs. Ditto for food stamps, that's another wildly abused program.
We can't keep importing uneducated serfs, getting 10 years of work out of them, and then supporting them and their children for the next 5 generations on the dole.
We still have the ORIGINAL class of people who were brought in to do agricultural work. Many of them are unemployed, on drugs, and in prison. Would they really be worse off if society reorganized so that, having failed to take advantage of the educational opportunities that the USA gives to all citizens, they are 'encouraged' to work in agriculture.
There is nothing wrong with agricultural work. Everyone over 50 in Oregon did it as kids and teenagers.

Your correct prescription for what ails us will never be willingly swallowed by the vast unwashed masses who have become accustomed to at least some “government compassion.” Even “conservatives” won’t swallow this bitter medicine, even when shown that it is the only way to cure a terminal illness. We have truly passed the point of no return.
