An internal memo from JetBlues chief operating officer to the airlines staff and board of directors explicitly rebukes the actions taken by flight attendant Steven Slater as unacceptable.
The document, which was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, offers the first timeline of events following Mondays now-famous airplane exit by Slater, in which the apparently enraged flight attendant uttered expletives over the public address system, deployed the emergency chute and slid down to the tarmac with two beers in hand.
But the memo also reveals that even at the highest levels of JetBlue, officials are still trying to determine what exactly happened before Slater deployed the chute.
In the memo, JetBlue COO Rob Maruster concedes that Slaters story about what led to his unusual departure has not been corroborated.
...According to the memo, JetBlue is cooperating with a Port Authority police probe and is conducting their own investigation to find the alleged passenger who sparked Slaters outburst. Still, Maruster wrote, even if company officials find there was a precipitating event that motivated his behavior, that still doesnt excuse his actions.

Maruster also underscored the danger posed when the slide is activated, and lamented the lack of seriousness that element of the story has garnered in the media.
The media played the incident and heroic and humorless and the starving sheeple gobbled it up. Personally, I find the disregard for the breach of airport security to be concerning, especially as the 9th anniversary of 9/11 approaches.
... as heroic and humorous....
eeekkk..
Special ping.
I really have no idea how some people turned this joker into some kind of folk hero.
Yeah... that will show him.
He’s gay. Ergo the lavender mafia find him marvy.
I’m sick of hearing about this guy! He’s gotten more attention than the guy who killed 8 people last week!
He does come across as swishy, but has it been established for certain that he is gay?
Poop Chute Riding
The mental image of someone taking two beers and sliding down a chute as a way of leaving a job is pretty dramatic. Many people have “spectacular exit” fantasies but rarely see them in action.
I am not excusing what he did, it was reckless and I am glad I wasn’t on that plane.

Steven Slater gained instant notoriety Monday after he...
Slater reportedly wed Cynthia Niethamer in 1991 and divorced her less than a year into the marriage. The two met when they were 16 while working at a JC Penney store, according to press accounts. Slater reportedly now lives with his male partner, Ken Rochelle, in an apartment in Rockaway Park, N.Y.
That’s certainly true.
Well, that settles it. Thanks!
The whole “going rogue” thing seems to be very “in” these days.
It’s the first time he entered a chute in the proper direction.
Reports are that he and this female passenger did not get along from the beginning of the flight (catfight?)
Be grateful he didn’t unleash his full air rage (and that IS what this incident is) while in flight.
LOLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
The 1st news story I seen after the fact, stated police found him at his home in bed having sex with his “partner”
Could you provide us with a link to that story? Thanks. I haven’t seen any such reference in the stories I found. Thanks again.
I put it in Chat so as not to bother people looking for News. I understand your point, though.
