On another planet, it sounds like Steven Slater and I could have been friends.
He likes swearing, beer and rubber slides. Me, too!
But Slater is an airline attendant, or steward, or whatever

The Toronto Star printing an editorial that makes sense? Did the world invert while I was working?

I hate commercial flying anymore. Like many other things in our safety-consciencous, touchy PC world, it's just not worth the irritation these days.
Anyone remember freedom? Remember when flying was fun and not a totalitarian nightmare?
I have never been in jail, but it seems like flying is just that. No thanks.

I’m not an airline employee, but let’s look at what we KNOW to be true.
This plane is now out of commission. The inflatable life raft was opened and inflated - so until the old raft is removed and a new one installed, and inspected, and signed off - that plane is out of commission.
That plane could not go to the jetway with the raft dragging - that raft could dislodge and cause damage to this, or other aircraft. So, there were some delays.
Delays mean missed flights, or missed connections.
I think this flight attendant shoudl be laible for every dime that his little hissy-fit cost the airline; and that’s not including fines for tampering with safety equipment.

Willie, do you work for, or are you in any way connected to, AMTRAC and/or other lobby groups that promote public transit?
I suspect that you are.
Amtrac is a bankrupt pit to throw taxpayer dollars into and your post is the FR non sequitur of the day.
Service in general is a forgotten concept as the work ethic spirals downward into entitlement mentality.
Personally, if he said that about me, he would be picking up his teeth.

AMTRAK... only regularly serves the vital east coast corridor from new york city to washington dc.
The rest of country only gets to PAY FOR IT!

So Steven Slater, sit the hell down and leave Mr. Im In A Huge Hurry alone. Your problem wasnt with safety. It was with Mr. I-I-A-H-H disobeying one of your pointless directives.
Bingo. I never have a problem with flight attendants. I sit down, shut up, obey the seat-belt signs and try to get the flight over with ASAP. But since 9/11 I've seen my share of flight attendants with a chip on their shoulders, looking for an excuse to impress passengers with their authority.

Willie, do you work for, or are you in any way connected to, AMTRAC and/or other lobby groups that promote public transit? No, but he does have a model train set in his garage that always runs on time.

Good post.
Air travel has become something you endure. If there is any way I can get where I’m going by car, I will.
I used to enjoy it, but those days are long gone.

You know, I am so sick of uppity people in the service industry who develop a god-complex and take it out on the customers. I hate being a prick to people like that, but sometimes, just sometimes, they need to be reminded of their position on the totem pole.
