"Christophe Lemaitre made history at the French championships in Valence by becoming the first white man to run the 100 metres in under 10 seconds. Lemaitre, 20, the former European junior record holder, also broke the French national record on his way to victory in 9.98 seconds. 'What I wanted was the first place. The time was more of a long-term goal,' said Lemaitre. 'It's good to have done it before the European Championships.'"

That puts him 0.12 seconds away from being in the all-time top 10 in the 100 meter.
Usain Bolt is 0.4 seconds faster.

He’s skinny like a distance runner, has terrible form (poor start, stands up too soon, wobbles down the track, runs a bit hunched over), but is just naturally FAST.
The biggest thing here is that he’s running faster than both Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay were a the same age and most sprinters don’t peak till 27 to 30 years old. If he gets the right trainer/coach, stays clean and doesn’t burn out...watch out! 9.80 should be a breeze with some minor corrections. 9.70 and lower with a few more years of growing and weight training.

He also has pretty long hair. I am not sure if that slows him down. Didn’t Bolt or one of the others get nailed for doping? I hope the kid gets a good coach.
