Did you know that the 28th of June, 2010 was the 75th anniversary of the 357 magnum which was introduced in 1935?
A windy but great video with much information for anyone interested in the 357 magnum handgun. Great shooting by Hickok45 starting 9 minutes into the video.
marking for later viewing at home
has been my handgun of choice for years....
I should take my S&W Model 19 Combat Magnum out for dinner and some shooting.
my favorite loading is 8.6 grains of unique and a 110grain jhp. nice and flat shooting and around 1450fps velocity
I love the .357 Magnum and have three.
Ping for later.
I like unique powder as well. It’s pretty darn flexible but smoky sometimes when using cast bullets with bullet lubricant.
Major Smith fan, I.
However I like the style and feel of my Python 6 “ blue, which I bought new in ‘74 from my uncle’s basement gun shop (remember when the ATF stopped by for coffee ?)
I have a brace of Smiths in .22 and .38 from the 50s and 60s and I think they may be the best. The Python is unique, however.
It is a genuine Smith from 1978. My favorite story is how I acquired it.
I was stationed at Mtn. Home AFB, Mtn. Home, ID. I was helping a friend move from the base to Boise, ID, about 50 miles away. It was late and I decided to spend the night with him rather than drive back.
So I went to a drug store to buy a toothbrush and some toothpaste. While there, I noticed that this drug store, a CVS or Rite-Aid like place, had a little glass case in the corner and they were selling handguns and knives.
With my toothbrush and toothpaste in hand, I went over to look at the offerings. The cashier said she could ring me up there, and asked if there was anything else. I saw the S&W Model 19, 4" barrel, at a great price, so I said "yup, that one, please."
This was 1978, so there were no waiting periods, no background checks. Filled out the federal paperwork and walked out with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a handgun.
Only in America (or used to be...)
:)
You sound like me but mine are all .45s.
I think that was a .44 magnum in Dirty Harry’s hand.
“Wow, that’s a nice setup you have there! Do you hand load?”
No, but I once shot my hot water heater;-{)
