In 1961, the father's race would have been listed on the birth certificate as Negro, not "Black". That term didn't come into general usage until the late 60's.

Perhaps they have their reasons....a little leverage to get favorable treatment from The Regime?
If so it does not appear to be working.
I am old enough to remember the early 1960s and IIRC the term for Afro-Americans most widely in use then was “negro”, and the race or ethnicity was “negroid”. It was only later in the 1960s with the burgeoning civil rights movement that these terms fell out of favor, replaced by the more acceptable (at the time) “black”. So the specification of “black” for “Father’s Race” would have been uncommon and unusual, to say the least.

The fact that the title of Obama's COLB says "Certificate of Live Birth", a change made to them in 2008, but were called "Certification of Live Birth" at the time of his birth must have slid right past you.
In other words, his certificate form DID NOT EXIST at the time he was born.
I'd call that more than a shred...but we all have our own systems.

It works to his political advantage to keep this issue alive with those who would vote for him, particularly liberals with a victimization complex and Latinos who also get accused of not being “real” Americans.
On top of that the issue divides Obama’s political opposition as people like the Republican Governor of Hawaii and members of the Republican delegation to Congress come to Obama’s defense.
Obama knows that federal law accepts any birth document that is authorized for a US passport and the Hawaii Certification of Live Birth works for that purpose.
