An open question.
However, sticking a gun in your working neighbor’s face because you don’t feel like working, a.k.a. Socialism, is decidedly NOT Christian.
God behaves as a Libertarian.
He wants us all to follow Him, but refuses to make us do that in any form.
He can abolish sin in an instance without effort, but allows it. Every sin ever committed is because He allowed it.
He gives us all the gift of life, and is saddened when we don’t voluntarily choose to follow Him and better our lives in Him, but lives with that pain.
I would think the concept of “free will” would apply to both libertarianism and Christianity.
PS: Wallis is a creepy TV preacher who wouldn’t know true Christianity if lightning hit him.
But libertarianism only affects this life. If you have consequences here due to your choices, the worst that can happen to you is death.
However, if you make the wrong choices WRT God, you’re choosing to spend eternity outside of his presence.
He’s a fake. Just like Zero himself.
God will judge the apostates worse than any others.
Those who lead the sheep astray are worse than wolves who devour them.
Wallis is a marxist infiltrator of Christianity.
There is no Christian government. There may be Christians in the government, but the last time that I checked, Jesus was not promoting a political philosophy or a political ideology. People are always trying to make Jesus into a worldly leader or king. Government is based upon reason and force, not the Gospel. Rulers do not rule based upon Divine Right, nor does God promote a theocratic structure. We are free to choose whatever government we want. It has nothing to do with my faith in Christ or the forgiveness of sins. Regardless of whatever government is established, it will always be run by sinful and finite human beings, and no government is better than the people that run it. I would rather have a wise king than a stupid elected socialist run the government, which is what we have now. I am not saying that I want a monarchy, but I am only using that as an example. A democratic or a republican form of government can be just as totalitarian as a dictatorship. Personally, I lean toward Libertarianism, but that does not mean that I think that it is more or less Christian than other forms of government.
hmmm..is Islam fascist?? Seems more the relevant question to ask.
Sure they are
Libertarianism and Christian are on the same page in the area of the individual being free to give of there own will as God ask of you with no out side interference
It between you and God ...one on one...by God's will
God is all powerful, we have no hope to resist his will
Yet he approaches us as an individual and he ask us....he alows us to choose... that is Libertarianism in action
Conversely I do not see how Socialism is in any way Christian...
Socialism is not about the individual giving of there own free will...
To do good of your own will requires no force
Then need to look up the word "government"
Government is force
Socialism is about coveting the things of others, taking by force, and justify it your own eye.
Government Socialism to take from individual by force
I'll just take up an early point Rev. Wallis (Church of Progressivism) tells us:
"The Libertarian enshrinement of individual choice is not the pre-eminent Christian virtue. Emphasizing individual rights at the expense of others violates the common good, a central Christian teaching and tradition.
Gemeinnutz vor Eigennutz can be translated as "common good before selfishness". I think it's fair to say that line sums up what Rev. Wallis is claiming as Christian traditional belief. Ah, 'Gemeinnutz vor Eigennutz' was the slogan of the Nazi Party. When you put government in charge of deciding what the 'common good' is and allowing unlimited power to enforce that 'common good', does anyone know of a situation, where it turned out to be really and truly for the 'common good'?
I've followed Wallis for years on tv. I don't recall ever hearing him talk about limiting government, every time and in every situation, Rev. Wallis was all about increasing the size and scope of government. He sees no limit to government. Wallis is trying to take America down a path that has never, ever ended well. That path has caused more violence, death and misery than any political path in history. How Christian is that?
Is Wallis really advocating a theocracy? And what is it with lefties bringing religion in to back up their policies nowadays? Have they run out of other reasons?
Marxists promised material properity on a scale comparable to heavenly paradise. Oops. Progressives promised a well-managed society, with ever increasing prosperity and ever decreasing social ills. Oops. Liberals promised us the Great Society, fairness, non-discrimination, peace, prosperity, less crime and a colorblind society. Oops.
When all the other reasons fail, promise them the afterlife has to be the new lefty model. Enter Jim Wallis [stage left].
