Tech Question: Where did my Toolbar Thumbnails go?
me

Posted on 05/25/2010 8:12:12 AM PDT by RangerM

I'm using IE8, and after a recent Windows update, the thumbnails (Google toolbar) that used to appear when I opened a new tab, no longer appear.

Is there a setting I need to look for?

Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

TOPICS: Computers/Internet
KEYWORDS: google; ie8; thumbnail; toolbar
Thanks for you help.

Right click on the toolbar (up top) and click on the toolbar you want added. The ones being used have a checkmark, the others have nothing next to it. I had to reset my toolbars after the update too.

What I’m saying is the Google Toolbar is still there, but the thumbnails (website previews) that used to appear when I opened a new tab no longer appear.

While I was surfing around (a minute ago), I saw a reference to this feature being “retired”, but I didn’t have confirmation.

It was a really good feature to me. Don’t know why it would be retired.

It could be because that feature is built into Windows 7.

For security reasons, you need to quit using IE and switch to FireFox. FireFox is not perfect, but it beats the hell out of IE for security.

Here is a link for the download:

feature being “retired”

That is one reason I hate updates and upgrades.

Programmers change features and eliminate features. Many times, that feature was the main reason I used that particular program. I have quit using many programs over the years for that very reason. Sometimes, there are alternate programs; sometimes not.

Chuck Norris does not belong to “Fight Club”. Chuck Norris belongs to “Not Even Close To Being A Fair Fight Club”.
