English Mastiffs are completely gentle. They are protective: they won’t suffer any strange dogs or cats on their property (which they oddly know as if they made the survey themselves).
Their mass makes it so they don’t have to use their teeth. Anything coming up against one knows to turn around.
*Exceptions: pumas, coyotes and bobcats. They get run down.

I laugh at my neighbors because they have a burglar alarm. Their alarm company calls me when their alarm goes off. I always tell them I run over in their yard with my camera because I want to snap a picture of a burglars face when he is coming out of their house(I don’t really). I don’t think these people will ever get robbed, not with those huge dogs inside the house.

They can sure move fast when they want to...they look like big dumb clumsy goofy galoots, but they are as smart as a whip and super fast.
