After the U.S. House's historic vote Sunday night passing the health care reform bill, South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster issued the following statement:
"The health care legislation Congress passed tonight is an assault against the Constitution of the United States. It contains various provisions and federal mandates that are clearly unconstitutional and must not be allowed to stand.
A legal challenge by the States appears to be the only hope of protecting the American people from this unprecedented attack on our system of government. The key question involved is whether personal freedom, state sovereignty and constitutional law will survive in America for future generations.
As attorney general for the State of South Carolina, I have sworn an oath to uphold and defend both our state and federal constitutions. I therefore intend to join with Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum in challenging the constitutionality of this profoundly unwise legislation. We will take our case to the United States Supreme Court if necessary.
After an extensive conference call tonight, I am optimistic that the attorneys general of Texas, Nebraska, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Alabama will be joining this effort as well."
Challenge away! Nothing is going to come of it. Satan and the Democrats have prevailed and freeloaders never met an entitlement they didn’t like.
Geez, I’m sure glad you didn’t blog for General Washington....
He has yet to prove he is Constitutionally eligible to be the POTUS.
That’s what the courts are for.
Yes, Barry is not a natural born citizen either.
Thanks for the negative post. Fight or be a sheep.
LAws get overturned. McCain Feingold was gutted. The Rostenkowski bill was repeealed and he was chased by seniors and driven out of office.
The VA AG Ken Cuccinelli is also onboard and soemone said he is pretty sure they can get a fast track to SCOTUS.
I heard that this case has some punch from Virginia.
I bet you kept saying the same thing about McCain/Feingold too...until the SCUTOS eviscerated that bill.
If this ends up before the Supreme Court, never ever forget that Lindsey Graham voted to confirm the “Wise Latina”.
I wish I knew more. VA AG Ken Cuccinelli is a very smart guy U ov VA Engineering undergrad and George Mason law degree. I have to think doctors, insurance companies and others may have started the legal research to kill this months ago.
I need to find out how Ken C hopes to fast track this to SCOTUS.
Ken Cuccinelli will not sit down and shut-up.
Lindsay Graham’s pal McCain gave us McCain Feingold which gave us the 2006/2008 Dem Congress and Ovbama.
Lindsay now wants amnesty and cap & tax.
So are you of the same opinion that someone had yesterday in The Charlotte Observer - “Smile and enjoy it” ?
BTW, I think Satan thought he had prevailed on Good Friday. How’d that work out for him?
Bill McCollum here in Florida said he will also fight this thing.
This whole mess makes me ill. We’ll just have to vote them all out in November - well, the ones who can be voted out. And as far as the bc thing? forget it. No one is going to touch BO. Eve3n if they did, Congress won’t impeach him. Too many sweet midnight deals going on. That much is transparent.
Here is looking at a new day, a new battle.
And here is hoping all the evidence of Obamas usurped ascension into the Whitehouse comes to light, the people have STANDING.
I’m sure the distinguished Senator from South Carolina, Lyndsey Graham, will tsk-tsk this uncouth behavior. After all, we should reach across the aisle and work with our friends of the democrat party.
After this weekend watch this buffoon continue to “work with” Kerry on “bi-partisan” immigration deform.
Don’t say forget it about anything. We have to fight this and the AG’s in as many states as possible need to join in. Don’t pin all your hops on just Nov 2010. This bill needs to be killed. Citizens, seniors, doctors, insurance companies and others need to fight with the AG’s.
Also, Texas AG Abbott pushing the issue.
Wow, this is lighting up like a roman candle! I’m seeing a number of ways this bill will be reversed!
By the end of this week my guess is that AG's in at least a dozen states, possibly many more, will also challenge.
