New York, NY-March 15...A pointed television advertisement aimed squarely at New York State Attorney General - and gubernatorial hopeful - Andrew Cuomo (D-WFP) for his refusal to investigate credible allegations against a political party that could be helpful to his prospective candidacy for governor was released today by New Yorkers for Growth, a non-partisan political action committee dedicated to bringing responsible fiscal policies back to New York State government.

The 30-second spot entitled "Prince Andrew" questions why the Attorney General has failed to look into allegations that New York's Working Families Party (WFP) has, among other things, illegally used non-profit corporations to circumvent political donation limits to give preferred candidates an unfair advantage in New York Democratic primaries. The Charities Bureau of the Attorney General's office is directly charged with supervision of non-profit organizations throughout the state.

The WFP is the predominent voice in New York State for higher taxes and spending. It is closely linked to the organziation ACORN, which itself was the subject of recent criminal probes.

"Prince Andrew", which was produced for New Yorkers for Growth by Nelson Warfield, will appear on select New York State cable television stations in the coming days and be distributed widely via the Internet.

It also has been reported that the WFP has illegally shared "resources and staff, and quiet money transfers [with] a secretive private company called Data and Field Services (DFS) and at least six current Council campaigns" (City Hall.) The United States Attorney's Office, Southern District is currently investigating those charges. (New York Times). New Yorkers for Growth has been urging Attorney General Cuomo since August 2009 to open an investigation into the highly questionable inner workings of the WFP.

"The Working Familes Party has been accused of serious crimes involving the possible manipulation of elections, and it is Attorney General Cuomo's sworn obligation to investigate that," said New Yorkers for Growth spokesman Liz Feld. "These allegations have attracted the attention of the United State's Attorney's office, which is currently investiagting the Working Family Party for possible federal violations. New York State Attorney General Cuomo, who is a prolific investigator, must similarly investigate whether state laws have been broken."

Cuomo would be a worse governor than Paterson. Too bad this state didn't have the common sense to elect John Faso 4 years ago when it had a chance!

Wasn't suffering through years of "Mario the Pious" enough punishment for NYers?

HUD's Web visitors learn that in 1999 "Secretary Cuomo established new Affordable Housing Goals requiring Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—two government sponsored enterprises involved in housing finance—to buy $2.4 trillion in mortgages in the next 10 years. This will mean new affordable housing for about 28.1 million low- and moderate-income families.

The historic action raised the required percentage of mortgage loans for low- and moderate-income families that the companies must buy from the current 42 percent of their total purchases to a new high of 50 percent—a 19 percent increase—in the year 2001." ... From Village Voice report 8-5-08) Andrew Cuomo, the youngest Housing and Urban Development secretary in history, made a series of decisions between 1997 and 2001 that gave birth to the country’s current crisis.

Cuomo took actions that—in combination with many other factors—helped plunge Fannie and Freddie into the subprime markets without putting in place the means to monitor their increasingly risky investments.

Cuomo turned the Federal Housing Administration mortgage program into a sweetheart lender with sky-high loan ceilings and no money down, and he legalized what a federal judge has branded “kickbacks” to brokers that have fueled the sale of overpriced and unsupportable loans. (There were rampant rumors that Cuomo himself pocketed greatly from his HUD position.)

Three to four million families are facing foreclosure (as of 2008), and Cuomo is one of the reasons why....
