What did your meter do when the CHP veteran was killed in a Toyota runaway acceleration? This case may be a hoax, but it isn’t an isolated incident. There is a definite problem with this drive by wire technology.It seems to be not ready for prime time and both Toyota and the NHTSA have known it for several years
If the unwanted acceleration was freaking him out so bad how did he have the presence of mind to call 911?
