This guy has scammer written all over him.
Maybe he'll get an Oscar.
Or maybe get arrested.
Yes.
Yes I was thinking that this was an easy way to get his 15 minutes of fame. Now arrest this SOB!
I smelled a rat from the first on this caper.
If true, I hope Toyota sues him. They’ve got the money and lawyers to make it stick.
“Surprised it took this long to come out. This guy has scammer written all over him.”
I thought: “Why didn’t he put it in neutral and turn off the ignition?”
Then when I saw him being interviewed I knew the guy was a scam artist.... “The eyes are the windows to the soul.”
Me too. The 911 dispatcher repeatedly told him to shift the car into nuetral and he never did. Sounds like a scam to me.
There’s another case where a car supposedly accelerated and hit a wall. You can bet a number of people looking to either cash in or get rid of of their cars or both will be pulling these stunts.
My car did this once. I was 16, new driver and the gas pedal just hit the floor without my having stepped on it and it took off full speed on a winding road with a cliff on each side. Talk about scared to death! I didn’t have alot of experience with cars but i did put it into neutral finally which wasn’t easy when i was trying to find neutral while trying to stay on the road. Engine still was running full bore. drifted to the side , pulled out the key and the damned engine was STILL revving!!!!
it was an oldsmobile and it turned out to be a problem with the cruise control system even though i wasn’t using the cruise control.
He supposedly can barely answer easy questions about his location, but then when asked about the accelerator he suddenly goes into a detailed explanation. This is fishy.
I knew it was fake when he was claiming his Prius was going over 80mph...
When he was interviewed and asked why he didn’t try putting the Prius into neutral, he said he was ‘afraid the car would flip...’ and I remember thinking, a tiny Prius, flip? And then maybe he was just not a ‘car guy’ but even though I don’t drive a Toyota, even I recall hearing ‘put it in neutral.’
Hope Toyota sues HIM!
I can take the key out of one of my F150s going down the road. In fact I often take the key out and stick it in my pocket so I won’t forget and leave it in the ignition.
*bingo*
But this guy supposedly dug out his phone and called 911. (Newspeople are so gullible.)
