Who Is Brooks Perlin?
The son of wealthy hedge-fund financier Sandford Perlin and his wife, Anne, Perlin grew up in posh Darien, Conn., and graduated from Hotchkiss, an elite boarding school. At Williams College he played on the tennis team and was known for "laserlike volleys," says one schoolmate, "and lots of shirtlessness. He seemed to enjoy displaying the bod." These days, he competes in triathlons, keeping to a grueling training schedule while starting up a business to market green construction materials—which gives him something else in common with Couric. Says her friend: "They're both really busy!"
