Actually, to be serious, they are pretty smart dogs. Not as smart as a border collie or an australian cattle dog, but smarter than the average dog.

My grandfather claimed the best pheasant dog he ever had was part chihuahua.

Yep. I was down at my Son’s the other night and they had company who brought their dog over. She was a large German Shepherd Husky mix. Looked like a wolf.
Son’s Chihuahua jumped off his lap and then jumped up and bit her on the shoulder. Luckily the big dog just ignored the Chihuahua.
