Anyone have experience with concealed carry coats with the built-in ambidextrous pistol pockets? Looking for pros/cons recommendations ...
Comfort? Print? Practicality?
e.g., http://www.freerepublic.com
Looking for options in addition to waist holsters and shoulder holsters.
Thanks for the advice

SW 442 in a pants pocket.
Its light, It kicks like hell, and the long double action trigger sucks, but it will keep ya from shooting yer balls off when you draw it.
There is always a trade off on concealabilty.
I like the little PA 64 too with a SOB holster too
Sucks in summer in Texas
My mistake. You asked about coats.
You can conceal anything in winter. It just aint a problem.
I suppose access is the biggest problem in winter.
You could carry a 1911 in that coat pocket easy.
The weapon you choose to carry should be the foremost determinant in your choice of how to carry it IMO. It’s size, action, and design will dictate what kind of coat or concealment method is or is not appropriate. personally, I like a leather jacket with a pocket large enough to hold my hand wrapped around a hammerless S&W 340 M&P. This is much faster than having to reach inside your coat and it gives you the element of surprise even if someone already has a weapon directed at you.
This is a vanity that I can assuredly say, “No I do not have even a cell of experience.” :-D. I wish I did though.
It’s not a good idea. It’s just too easy for you to take your coat off and leave your gun unattended. At least with the shoulder holster, which is a superior method of carry anyway, you are concealed when you have your coat on... which by the way is the case when you have the gun in the coat pocket. If you take the coat off (and you ARE going to take it off), what are you going to do with the gun if it’s in the coat?
I tend to use different arms with different weather.
I cant cover my weapon of choice when it is 105 and 89% humidity, so I compromise.
A heavy coat with a pocket holster would be great if you could wear it every day.
Even that has troubles with positive retention of the fire arm.
It’s all a trade off.
I think you will find them all practical and comfortable in winter with no print.
I’ve got a couple of 5.11 Tactical jackets, and like them. I can carry a small auto comfortably in the inside pocket, without printing through.
Got any advice you can offer this Freeper?
This looks pretty good for summer right here:

I know a cop who used a fanny pack worn around in the front for summer carry too. I have a similar arrangement. I can carry the pistol plus a dozen or more speedloaders if I wanted to with this. Doesn’t really work with a full size autoloader though.
Yeah but when you wear a fanny pack or Hawaiian shirt, EVERYONE knows you are carrying.
Sig P220 is my firearm of choice. I liked the feel of it (and shot better) better than the P220 Carry (shorter barrel.
I have not tried one of these jackets, but this one (pictured) is sized for the Sig.
