Thanks Cindy. It is appreciated. As long as I can survive 0’s war on freedom, it just might happen.

Thank you for posting this. I’ve spent the past year in job limbo - IOW, my company has been waiting on a system conversion which is supposed to eliminate my job position but this “better” system that was supposed to be ready last June may not be in place until this coming June and, while the company won’t say what their future plans are for me and my work group, some here just assume we’ll be laid off.

So, while I may get lucky and not be job-hunting, I’ve lived with the threat of job loss ever since last winter.

Good luck to all of you who are job-hunting. If you go strictly by unemployment figures, the region of North Dakota-South Dakota-Nebraska is the best for finding a job. Here in Texas, our unemployment rate is still in the 8% range but we are seeing a ton of out-of-state plates down here which are either conservatives fleeing their liberal hellholes or liberals fleeing their current hellholes to create new high-crime, high-tax hellholes down here.

Don’t forget LinkedIn. It’s a boon for people like me who find face to face networking a bit daunting.

I’ve heard from others that worry about layoffs.

When I was concerned about being laid off, (ages ago — due to the economy): I did watch the job ads even though I was still employed.

It gave me a sense of comfort and directions knowing what I could do if I had to do it.

Ogden. Hill AFB needs workers. Always.

If it fits.

I was discussing genealogy with a distant cousin (distant but just a few miles away) and she was bragging about how her research had taken her back two generations.

When I told her that I had taken several branches back a thousand years, she was apoplectic.

I tried to explain Ancestry.com to her, but she's not a computer friendly person.

That said, I was lucky to escape with my life (she wanted me to spend the rest of it on hers).

In all seriousness (almost), she was insatiable in her desire for hunting down her ancestors. She was hungry not just for the nobility...she wanted to know about all the scoundrels (and in my family--like all families--there are plenty of those). ;-)

Smiling at you...

It wasn’t until a funeral that I found out my grandfather’s name was really “Poe.”

Enough said.

I understand what you mean about computers.

My dear departed step-mother used to say when I tried to tell he about real events in the news, “Cindy, where do you get these things?”

It wasn’t a compliment, but then, she listened to Brian Williams for the news because “he’s such a nice young man — good looking and soft-spoken.”

Business First of Louisville

SNIPPET: “KentuckianaWorks will host its Youth Opportunity Showcase on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

The annual event connects Louisville-area employers with job seekers ages 16 to 21. Last year, it drew about 3,000 attendees.

There is no charge to attend or to reserve a booth.

So far, about 40 businesses and public agencies have agreed to participate in the upcoming showcase, and booth space still is available.

Employers will offer a combination of summer employment and year-round, part-time employment, as well as mentoring and internship opportunities for volunteers.”

Ok I just looked through entrepreneur.com and found 2 businesses for my 15 year old daughter and one for my 18 year old daughter - organizing closets and organizing garages, and painting designer storage boxes, respectively. They’re both already excited and I’m starting to research things to get them started. That was FUN!!!
