My daughter has never heard of "Hot Cross" Buns. In my youth they would be available during Easter Tide.
I need some history and hopefully a couple of rescipes, she is a Chef and a Baker, got the degrees to prove it. (Bills also.)
I clicked on here to find out what Barney Frank was mad about this time.

Here’s a couple of links on the buns and how to make them.
They’re good....my mom used to make them
I too ate Hot Cross buns as a child. And I like to bake. So I will check back here for info and if I find some I’ll post it.
I can and do occasionally make sweet roll dough and use it for cinnamon rolls, I would think similar dough would work. IIRC the buns used to have bits of candied fruit or raisins in them, in addition to the crosses of icing.
Linky no worky.
I had them as a child too, but you really have to look for them now because not too man bakeries make them anymore where I live.
Obviously some type of religious cookery. ;-)

You used to see them a lot when I was a kid and now in certain areas but there is some history, English, behind them. The Bard may have mentioned them, they go back a long way.
Try again:

The Allman Bros did a mean 20 minute+ version at the Beacon a few years back.
What world do you guys live in? They are available everywhere at the right time of year - Easter. My local supermarkets all sell them, but the only thing that makes them hot x buns is that they have a x on them (of icing which will burn your tongue off if you warm them in the microwave!) If you have a specialty baker near you, or a ‘British Foods’ store - that’s your place for the right, mildly spicy recipe, but check whether you have to pre-order.
cooks.com has about 84 recipes on Hot Cross Buns and the food network.com had 5 more. that is just a beginning.
I remember them well, a special treat during Lent.
Back in the old days in the NE Kingdom that is all you had, what was added? I know in the Christmas season you could get Citrons, how were they used?
Looks like my EX except for the cross, she had the Mark of the Beast, it fitted her.
The second pic is Eva Longoria.
