Elizabeth Edwards to Met Rielle Hunter and Child
Hot Momma Gossip ^ | January 5, 2010 | Austin

In the latest twist of a story that has ‘Movie of the Week’ written across it in gold, John Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth has now decided to meet John’s mistress and love child face-to-face.

Although reportedly ‘heartbroken’ by her husband’s affair, the 60-year old former law clerk is desperate to avoid the ugly court battle that is sure to ensue if John’s former mistress, Rielle Hunter doesn’t achieve her demands for $18,000 a month in child support.

“As much as she hates that John has a second family, Elizabeth can’t stand the idea of Rielle going public with their dirty laundry,” a source tells the National Enquirer via Politics Daily. “She’s told John to have his lawyers call Rielle’s reps and say she’ll get what she wants. She is also going to meet Frances [Rielle's daughter with John] over the next few weeks.”

This change of heart is even more unexpected if you know that when John bought Rielle a home near their $2.6-million mansion in North Carolina, Elizabeth was so incensed, she packed a suitcase and was threatening to leave.

Elizabeth’s fears of a public court hearing became even more real after Rielle demanded an annual $214,920 in tax-free child support for the 22-month old child. Talks between her lawyers and John’s broke down at that point and have been stalled until now. John also refused to let her live in the house.

Just to add motivation, Rielle’s legal reps were threatening to take the dispute to the Superior Court of New Jersey, where Rielle now lives. And the risk of a snowstorm of career-wrecking headlines in the down-market tabloids has clearly made Liz change her mind.

“Elizabeth feels John and Rielle need to put their differences aside,” says the source. “Despite her anger at Rielle, Elizabeth knows Frances didn’t cause any of this. She sometimes breaks down in tears over Frances – All children need their father.’”

So the court date is off and Rielle will get rich. Is that the end of the story? I doubt it – stay tuned…

Maybe what’s wrong with her is that her incurable breast cancer returned in 2007 and she’s extremely ill.

Perhaps she wants a bit of peace before she dies.

That could be. I’d be fighting mad if I were her.

I think she enjoys the agony. There are women like that!

Just for the record: The house he bought for his paramour is no where near the house he lives in with his wife.

Eh, ever had chemo? You’re not able to fight anything except nausea and you have no energy to be mad at anything. All you want isa a place to lie down and a bucket to hurl into.

No fun. I feel very sorry for the woman, all told - and for their kids, too.

Him? He’s the one who deserves the sort of misery his wife is suffering. What do you call a man-bimbo? Man-bo?

Why oh why doesn’t Elizabeth Edwards just keep her family business to herself and remain quiet while John and Rielle make public spectacles of themselves?

EE is always making foolish statements and having to walk them back.

This is just an impossible situation. I feel so sorry for Elizabeth, sticken with cancer and John and Rielle duking it out in court. A love child..ugh. Honestly - if I were Liz...I’d cut the cord and spend the rest of my life with my children and family who really love me and forget that ass wipe of a husband. What a douchbag he is, Rielle is a capital B and they should be forced to live the rest of their lives together in poverty. Taken to court, no judge in this land wouldn’t MAKE John pay all of Liz’s med bills until the day she dies.

Before this all went down, I admired him. Now - I would spit in his face.

“Elizabeth feels John and Rielle need to put their differences aside,”

Yep! Elizabeth is enjoying all of this attention. Typical martyr complex!!

And acoulterfan? There are NO women who can enjoy the pain of dying from breast cancer. My mom did. There is no fun in it at all.

Sometimes wisecracks, even at the expense of a Dem, are not appropriate.

Why in the world would he buy her a $2.6 M mansion - for two ?

A nice $600,000.00 condo would have worked.

Since Liz is determined she doesn’t want the dirty laundry aired it makes me wonder what we don’t know.

Inquiring minds.

Looks like Rielle’s chances of being stepmother to Elizabeth’s kids are diminishing.

It is not wisecracking. This woman is NOT looking out for her children by staying or having anything to do with John Edwards!

I think that she was on death’s door was all hype. That was 2007, right? That is an awfully long time to be Stage 4. Call my cynical, but ....
