Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow are to play husband and wife in a new film about the world's first post-operative transsexual.
Kidman will play Einar Wegener, the Danish artist who was born a man and married illustrator Gerda Gottlieb in 1904.
Charlize Theron was originally attached to play Gottlieb, but Paltrow has now signed on for the role, according to Variety.
The film, The Danish Girl, will be produced by Kidman's own company, Blossom Films. It is based on the international best-seller of the same name by David Ebershoff.
Eimar was said to have discovered his true inclinations when he stood in for a female model who was due to pose for one of Gottlieb's paintings, dressing in women's clothes and make-up.
He became a regular model for Gottlieb, which scandalised Copenhagen society when the secret came out. The couple moved to the more liberal-minded Paris, where Wegener adopted the alter ego of Lili Elbe.
Wegener and Gottlieb maintained their unconventional marriage until 1929, when Wegener embarked upon a series of sex change operations. The marriage was annulled - as both were now women, the King of Denmark declared it invalid - and Gottlieb went on to wed an Italian diplomat.
In 1931, Wegener died after undergoing a final operation which she hoped would enable her to have children.

Another perversion movie. Hollywood sure is inspiring these days.
Mega bomb, coming up!
Didn’t we alreay see this and it was called “The Crying Game”?
Actually, I never saw that piece of crap either.
?????!!!!!
I guess we have some light entertainment as the country goes down the tubes . . .
Not the Chaz Bono story?
Looks like two characters out of the wax museum.
Wonder why they didn’t choose a man to play the role of a cross dressing, transexual man?
pronoun abuse
men are not referred to as she - never will be
Will become one of those typical multiple Academy Award winning films that nobody goes to see. The Hollyweirdos will not be able to contain themselves.
The subject: Einar Wegener (left) underwent sex-change surgery in 1930. This was a result of years of modeling as a woman named Lili. After the surgery she adopted the name Lili Elbe permanently.
Turner Movie Classics can run a marathon:
Object of her affection: Lili discovered her feminine side when she modeled for artist Gerda Gottlieb. She remained the subject of Gerda's paintings for years. The two married in 1904, even though the marriage was discredited by the King of Denmark
Because men, as a general rule, make ugly women. And if the character is ugly, chances are it will be harder for audiences to accept the idea that nothing is wrong with it. But if you put two hot chicks together, then you’ve got lipstick lesbian sex, and that’s cool, bruh!
Victor Victoria Redux.
Pretty much guarantees a failure. Like Brokeback Mountain, these heavily favored and acclaimed “masterpieces” should gross thousands of dollars. Like most of the latest Hollywierd “masterfeces”. And they will try to cram them down our throats.
They never learn........
Yay. Can’t wait. I haven’t looked forward to a film this much since Broke bum Mountain.
