this is a perfect project for home school families, since it can combine language learning with cross-cultural communication. If you show a sincere interest in another person's language, you have a superhighway to their hearts.

I was a conversation partner for an Egyptian student learning English last year. I'm studying Arabic as well and after I was done tutoring him in English, he did the same for me in Arabic. I really love the Arabic language, I think that was what really got him interested in spending time with a foreign student.

If you go to the Middle East, at least in Saudi Arabia (no I have not been there, this is what I've read), you'll find that people assume foreigners don't know Arabic. So tell them ahead of time if you do--they'll really like it.

Totally right. Classical Arabic is different from modern Arabic, and further still from the dialects. And of course most Muslims don’t even speak Arabic (only 20% are Arabs). I read on FrontPage Mag a few years ago a story about a Bangladeshi guy who didn’t understand Arabic but was forced by his family to memorize the Qur’an. He finally bought a copy in Bengali and was shocked to find out what it really said—and caused him to leave Islam.

Yes, need to take it all as mere interpretation. But, there are some uncanny details that seem like the perfect set up for a literal Armageddon.

The return of Israel is an historic fact that seems like a literal fulfillment of prophecy. So, you've got to wonder.

While the Hal Lindsay crowd had it wrong about communism being the anti-Christ, the alliance between Russia and Iran seem to fit the senior just fine.
