I need some Freeper help...Usually I'm asking advice about guns or stuff.
But I need a different kind of help...a techie solution. A gadget. A CHEAP gadget.
I'm setting up a video-conferencing solution for my company. What we'll be able to do is participate in each other's sales meetings, via the web, via webcam and microphone. It's not a static environment, but one where the leader is moving around, from place to place in the room; sometimes at the whiteboard...other times at another place in the room.
I've kinda got the camera thing figured out.
But what I need is a microphone solution. Something where the sound will be understandable to remote users. BUT...I want the leaders to be able to move around with it...without having to carry their computers under their arms.
So it looks like some kind of wireless mic's gonna be necessary.
Here's the rub. I've done most of this on the cheap; the webmeeting app, the audio, the videoconferencing...all free (dimdim.com; skype; mebeam, etc.). So I'd like to find a wireless audio pickup setup that's not expensive.
If there's a wired solution that I can use (either with extensions or something), that'll do. I just don't know enough about that to get started.
So I figgered I'd come here and see what ideas I could get (again...for free!).
Even if it's just an idea-starter.
And maybe you've already got something like this set up.
Thanks!

So, you are going into the ‘mic’ input on your computer?
Freepmail me if you want, former AV tech.
The receiver plugs into your PC with a standard mini jack. The Mic transmits to the receiver with a range typicaly of 50 feet. Keep the receiver above the level of the mic. Just add batteries.
I have had really good luck with the Shure brand. We have used them for 15 years at our school for football games, assemblies etc. without problems.
Logitech Clearchat Wireless USB Headset with Microphone
With this basic form in mind, a little research could get you to the price point you seek...though $53.99 ain't bad.
Buy a Class 2 or class 2.1 bluetooth dongle for the PC used for the web conferencing. About $2 to $35 delivered. Look for direct deals from the factories in Hong Kong. Almost all the dongles sold in the US come from one of a half dozen factories in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, except for one manufacturer in the US.
absolute cheapest: Price: $2.39

Make the manager provide his own bluetooth earpiece he uses with his cell phone. pair the device to the PC, download any of the free sound mixer software for windows if needed to normalize the volume between BT mic and other mics.
meritline.com also sells very cheap wireless mics (without BT)

Thanks for the replies.
I’ve got a couple of ideas to work with from this.
