There’s a pic out there of a BBQed camel. I believe it set some world record for largest BBQ. Of course that doesn’t mean that anyone ate it.

Is camel good eating?

Yes it is. We were in Australia earlier this year for a month, seeing the sights, riding the Ghan Train, Great Barrier Reef, Sydney, Ayer's Rock, Etc., Etc., Etc.

Almost all the restaurants (with the exception of McDonalds) have camel on the menu. It has the color, texture, and taste of veal. I would challenge you to tell the difference in a blind study.

One of our guides said that Australia is the only country in the world now that exports live camels. Especially back to the middle East.

You see camel tracks everywhere out in the outback. They and kangaroos are taking over. The biggest hazard on many of the golf courses are kangaroos. They love the easy grazing.

Is camel good eating?

People in Egypt seem to think so. Since Australia slaughters 25,000 per year, they ought to sell them to the Egyptians.

Only the toe.

Seriously, camel IS good eating. In many parts of the Middle East you see the meat section has Beef/ Chicken/ Camel.

Australia is a case study in the introduction of new species to an isolated ecology. There is a good reason why marsupials (other than the opossum) are extinct everywhere but Australia, and the importation of placental mammals was a big wake up bell... ‘ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for THEE marsupials’.
