I think you have described Sarah Palin wonderfully.

I was very young then but it seems that we would have to go back to Dwight Eisenhower to find presidential timber which stands as straight and tall in the eyes of the people as does Sarah Palin. When I was a kid, everybody knew Ike was a good guy and everybody knew he had the experience for the job, having masterminded the day conducted the crusade in Europe.

It is interesting that the rap on Sarah Palin is much like the bogus libel they tried to hang around Ike, too stupid for prime time. Of course the Democrats try that with every Republican candidate but they really, really meant it about Sarah Palin. I guess they figured anyone who knowingly took a Down's syndrome baby to term is stupid.

In 1952 it really did not much matter matter what position Eisenhower took on issues-he was Ike. Similarly, to both the left and the right today, Sarah Palin is about who she is much more than what she says.

But Ike was an idiot — he wilfully ignored credible reports (from hos own ambassador, Earl E.T. Smith, among others) that Casstro was a communist, and gave free rein to leftists in the State Dept. to aid and abet the installation of a communist dictatorship in Cuba — which is still there, funding the guerrilas in COlombia and Peru, egging on Chavez in Venezuela, etc.
