As Socrates said many centuries ago, all arguments (in the best sense of that word) begin with definitions. He insisted on careful and precise definitions of words. I do not think that is possible with the word aboriginal. I have seen it defined to mean "indigenous, native". I was born in America. That makes me a native American. Does that also make me an aboriginal American? By that definition, yes.
I have a proposal. In the situation described by the original article (since it was the original article, should we call it "the aboriginal article"), why don't we simply call those "aboriginal" people "Canadians with a gripe".
