Yeah! We had a broom that could do that when I was growing up. The broom straws had splayed out at the bottom. If the broom were placed on the floor, the straw would splay in all directions and support the weight of the broom.
It is simple physics at work!

Watch the video. No splayed out straws on this one. No simple physics I am aware of either. Its a cheap blue nylon bristle broom. Just stands there for no apparent reason right in the middle of the room and not even exactly upright. Leans to one side and still just stands there. SPOOKY
