...and that is comfort in the heat we have.
Nice..I’ll bet you planted those trees..I have planted trees in 3 Texas yards..Those yards were once cottonfields in the Dallas suburbs.
Here I back up to a wooded ravine..no landscaping, no fence..just lots of trees, ...unruly but I love it.
Oh, Luv, what a beautiful yard! I can just feel the sky, the warmth, the neighbors. Everytime we would stoke up the grill out back, one of our neighbors would stick his head over the fence and holler, “I smell charcoal!”
We would reply back - “You sure do! And there is plenty of room on this grill for more than these burgers!”
The response would be, “We just picked up some of those T-Bones on sale - over an inch thick! We bought out the store!”
“Bring ‘em on over!”
Another neighbor, “I smell charcoal! We just bought 2 dozen ears of corn at the Farmer’s Market, and the wife has had baked beans simmerin’ in the crock pot all day!”
“Well, get that corn and beans over here!”
Another neighbor - “Do I smell charcoal? We made a huge bowl of potato salad (you remember, from Aunt Sally’s recipe), and were wondering what to fix that would go with it!”
“Well, com’mon over, big guy! And tell the wife, “ The party’s startin’!”
Then, from accross the street - “I hear music and laughter - and Betty just made a Strawberry Sheet Cake! Y’all got room for two more?”
Of course, Billy and Janie (katty corner) would see all the activity - “Hey! If we bring over a couple gallons of Frozen Margaritas and a couple six packs, can we join the fun? Course we’ll bring a gallon of Mary’s fresh made lemonade, too!”

OMG - those memories bring tears to my eyes, even today - 35 years later! And, not tears of sadness, but of JOY - for the wonderful days on your ‘oasis in the desert’.
I have a friend from Jr. High School and we always say "we love home so much it's almost sinful" ! We live about an hour and half away from each other, but we stay in touch! She comes this way some for business and her mom and dad are buried here. When she comes to place flowers for them, she always calls and comes for visit. And we talk for 3 hours and never shut up! LOL!
You have a cozy green yard! Pictures I’ve seen don’t show West Texas like that!
