The worst drivers in America live in New York. Of course, you knew that. You've been in the Holland Tunnel. But now, we have proof. GMAC Insurance has released the results of its National Drivers Test for 2009. The test, which measures basic knowledge of driving laws, was given to more than 5,000 drivers from all 50 states and the District of Columbia -- and New Yorkers finished last. Last year's loser, New Jersey, improved its score just enough to leap over New York. Hawaii, California and Georgia rounded out the bottom five.
Idaho and Wisconsin drivers tied for the highest average score, with an 80.6.

You have to remember this is the result of a written test. I suppose if you get people to objectively observe drivers it would conclude that Rhode Island and Ohio have some of the worst drivers in the world (IMO). Also, Connecticut drivers are pretty bad.
Here in CT, parents teach their kids how to drive and that just means that poor drivers are teaching new drivers so the driving education and skills erode with every generation.
New York City that would be. They are awful and disrespectful. There’s a whole lot of upstaters that can actually drive. I’d say New Jersey, around the New York City area and Massachusetts in and around Boston are worse than even NYC drivers.
Out here, many drivers think the Yield sign next to an off ramp it is for those coming off the divided road.
Many looked shocked to see me bearing down on them.
As a Californian, I demand a recount. I drive here every day. There’s no way we’re better than both New York and New Jersey.

How about adding driving skills to the test?
You know this explains why I don’t want to learn how to drive a car until I have too, GA traffic is horrible, espically close to Atlanta where I live. This summer I have to finally suck it up and learn since I’ll be done with college next semester (and pay back all those rides I hitched). Plus I just I am walking accident (and also on a motorcycle) I truely dread the day I have a car.
Michigan would easily be in the top ten if you eliminated greater Detroit from the test.
Good and safe driving starts with simple consideration of other drivers. Public roads aren’t the place for aggression.
There's no way Idaho drivers are that good, and I live here. If any FReepers see an Idaho plate with a "2C" on the left side of the plate, stay away...stay far, far away...

I feel the same way about Massachusetts! Massachusetts drivers are generally awful throughout the entire state, and it gets even worse in many Massachusetts cities. There’s a reason why car insurance is so high in Massachusetts. National car insurance chains are still nowhere to be found in Massachusetts.
sure there are terrible drivers all over the u.s. but the worst drivers in the world are in china, and france. those people actually try to die/kill someone. no matter how bad it is here in the states, it is way worse in other countries.

This gent from England? Hong Kong?
Pic printed backward before the text was added?

Truer words were never spoken, and not just about driving.

I don’t care where they live.
What I want to know is WHERE THEY DRIVE!!
;-)

those guys are less dangerous than actual cars. NEVER,NEVER,NEVER get into a chinese taxi cab unless you are prepared to die.
